my trap speed of 97 at best??
went to the track again today, the weather was nice at 52 degrees..seemed like everyone was hitting the 13's except for me..had couple of 350z's and sti's there stocks were running 13.6 to 13.8 with traps at 103-106mph..I on the other hand with my evo-x with 4500miles on it only ran a 14.0 at the best..made 4 runs last night and all trap speeds were well bellow 100mph.. my best was only a 97. my launch felt really good and car took off nicely but it felt like I was loosing power on the high end..I shifted a 7, 7.1 and 7.2 at the most but I really feel like im loosing power..shouldn't i alteast be hitting 100mph trap speed? I haven't done any engine mods to the car..The only thing I did was lower it and change the wheels and kept the same tires. Any diagnosis? I know my driving isn't best but at decent I really feel i should be hitting atleast 100mph.

Check for boost leaks definitely. Boost leaks are huge power killers. If youre tuned at 20psi and only 12 or whatever psi is making into the motor because of a huge leak, theres your explanation for the low trap. I know you said youre stock and I dont know what stock boost is on an X, but I was just using those numbers as an example.

Sounds reasonable..sorry for the noob question but how do I check for leaks? The Evo x has no boost gauge.. I don't even have an idea how much I'm boosting..hehe. Thanks again for the reply.

that's the thing i didn't like about the track last night..the time slips were only showing reaction time, trap speed and quarter mile. I know the last time i went though I didn't get the launch down at all and was bogging almost every time and traping 95-97. This time no bogging at all and it felt really good and I felt that kick on take off and tires grabed the whole way, i just dont have the 60ft to prove it but i'm sure it was atleast decent if not a good launch. I raced a Z that ran a 13.6 and left him off the start but he ran a 13.6 and I ran a 14.1 traping 96. almost all the drag threads on here on bone stock X are trapping over 100mph even first timers in the track.

Youd make a boost leak tester, very cheap to make. Heres a write up https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...er-5-02-a.html

97 isn't that far off depending on how you drive. I ran 13.7 @ 100.9 stock but I was driving pretty hard to get it.
Did you make sure to turn your stability control completely off? I have left mine on accidently before and it cuts power through 1st and also right when I hit 2nd gear.

A X is like 4-500 lbs. heavier than a IX. They're definitely not directly comparable. the IX can run low 13's stock perhaps even 12.9 with a really good driver. The X is a high 13 second car (at best) with a good driver.
