Cheers mate. it was a handful that's for sure. I had a similar experience on my first shoot deploy. (that is the first ever deploy) I was snagged to the other side of the track. pretty well shaken from that. lol but obviously happy with the 8.73418@163.05
The 8.706@162.96 felt smooth as.
but yea in the last run i really didn't want the rear end to get to far ahead of itself. it brought back memories of the CBR rx7 at Meremere last year.. So had to man up and keep my eyes open to ride the drift section out..
Hopefully with a few shoot adjustments Meremere will be a lot smoother as its not so forgiving at that end of the track.

Cheers mate..
No it was a combination of getting to know what to do with a chute and trying to get it locked down straight away, and having the chute mounted below the centre of gravity..
I was told to power into the release then to start braking.. but no.. i believe i buttoned off too early and upset the flow of everything, causing the rear to lift up, locking the brakes, and some what sh*t'n myself..
It all happened so fast up until the drift section. then it felt like everything was in slow motion. hope'n like hell a tire wouldn't give way/or hook under the side load..

chute anchor is suppose to be mounted in same line as crank shaft.obviously this difficult on a transverse engine.Looks like your chute anchor point is fine just need to deploy earlier underfull throttle.I usually deply chutes when i enter speed trap about 66' feet from finish line full throttle of course.

Whats your thoughts on track conditions for this run and how meremere will hold up for the nats?? I think once you guys run the nats you may need to take it over to OZ where you know the pavement is top notch and then go for a 7... Would be awesome if you could do it here tho

Meremere will at least get a decent amount of prep etc.. but its bumpy with a short run off followed by loose gravel into the ditch..
oz would be ideal. but will see how we get on..

Dave,
Pull that chute just before the 66' trap box at the end of the track, as you've probably figured out by now it takes a second for the air to fill up. When it finally does, I just clutch the car into neutral and stay off the brakes until the car is settled into the aerodynamic braking. The chute slows the car down pretty fast at 165+ for a second, then its much safer to start getting into the brakes.

Be safe out there. Getting the car up to 170 mph is the easy part, slowing it down in a short distance can get quite tricky!
