Mike,

here is one of the links:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...6-152-e85.html

Again,

I am not saying that the 2.3RR is the goal for a drag engine. I am just saying that I like the well roundedness of this motor. the benefits of the stroker with high revs...

I still think and as its shown, the 2.1 / 2.2 is a great motor.

There will always be motors that will go fast, 2.4's are makin sick power but a semi reliable drag motor the 2.1 and 2.2 remain the top from what I can see and follow on here.

bah... read this.

Credit goes to Paul Yaw. You might remember him from developing such products as the Injector Dynamics 1000cc and 2000cc injectors that you all know and love.

BTW... I chose the 2.2L
I took physics also, I work on diesels for a living, get your horsepower calculator out and do some math (it won't add up) a 5000+lbs vehicle running the 1/4 mile in 10sec. with only 500hp, I have seen several trucks run in the 10's and 11's at 4400' altitude on a 100+ degree day.

since we areon this topic i was just wondering how a 2.4LR motor with a 10:1 compression ratio would do in a 1/4 mile which buschur says it can rev to 9000 rpms.

If you rev that motor to 9K the life span isn't that long. That is what I heard. I have a 2.4 and when they tuned it I asked why did they set my rev limiter to 7800 rpm. They told me so the motor will have a long life span. But I have also been told that they can rev high. I would like to know how long the 2.4 will last at high revving points? Has any one document this?

this thread is all fail.

To all the people who think torque is where it's at. Go read a book. We're not towing 80,000 pounds, we're drag racing.

+1

Horsepower is torque put into a time frame. On electrical motors you have max torque when the rotor is locked (aka max load). What good is 300ft/lbs of torque if you're not getting any power out since the shaft isn't spinning. Same principle with gasoline motors.

Fastest Evo to Date, David Stock-DS9 , 20/03/2010 , STM , Evo 9 , Tomei 2.2L stroker , Garrett GT45 , Motec M400 Tuned by Andre Simon , 5.431 / 8.349 / 169.72mph.

You can build any engine to go high rpm if you know what your doing. David Buschur has that new Hi RPM 2.3L Motor that seems to do quite well aswell.

For a given valve area your stroke will dictate where your powerband happens. If you can engineer the engine to make torque @ the highest RPM possible, you'll make the most horsepower. The 2.1L 4G64 is probably the best highly available stroke/block combination. You could destroke it past a 2.1L, but at that point you'd be doing what Spyros is doing... creating valvetrain that will rev past 12k RPMs.

Transmission are rated in torque, by reducing the torque output of the engine by making more horsepower at a higher RPM, it makes the job of the gear box much easier. I think for most of us... this is the money saver.
