My bachelor party at the track , dsm and evo content
For my Bachelors party, jeremy (my best man) decided that instead of the usual slew of drinking and bar hopping, we would have a bachelors party at the track.
What a fantastic idea as most of my friends are into cars and racing, it seemed like the perfect oppurtunity to do so.
So after a long night of wrenching, blowing up brake lines, because of power braking the car, chasing boost leaks, that are present everywhere, It was finally Track day
Once we get to the track , un load the car and get teched, I decided that I should start the day, with a pass in the eclipse. The evo has to play second fiddle today .
I get to the water box, do a pathetic burnout and come to the line. Keep in mind, I have no idea what the car will do with this auto, I have practised the launch in my mind for months, but now it was go time.
I brake torque the car, as I come up on the convertor, the 2 step engages, no boost of the line, and let her rip.... 1st gear goes through quickly, bang 2nd, car is in boost and hurtling down the strip, it starts to make a B line for the TIMING CONES in the center, I let off...... **** MY ***** ARE IN MY MOUTH...get back into it to make the car get back into the groove, BANG 3RD, stay in it... car starts heading to the wall NOW....... I am in fear for my life, my ******* is the size of a pea right now from all the puckering... AND ACROSS THE line, letting off... what a Ride, I wish I could put to words, what that experience was.
I get the slip.. 12.50s @ 130 WTF I let off a bunch of times in the pass... I thought autos were supposed to make you lose HP ?. I knew it would be a good day....
after getting to the pits,checked my shorts for staining.. I figured I would wait a little while, I then made some pathetic passes in the evo, That twin disc was just being a complete pain the ***, bogging the car, and it kept breaking up in boost.
Alright time to get back into this 1G .
Pull back into the staging box, and I do a little bit of a better burnout.. This time, the car hooked a little better , but not great, still in the 2.1 60' area, as the slicks being brand new, were definitely not heat cycled. Make a great pass , still letting off and the car goes 11.40s @ 139.93///////// HOLY **** HOLY ****, I kept screaming in my helmet... I could not believe the MPH
Boost was 29 psi ( or I think it was that)
AFR-- BLACK SMOKE
after making a pass in the dsm, I figured I would jump into the evo, to see how she felt. The 2step was set at 5000rpm, so when I pulled up to the line ( NEVER launched with the exedy) , get on the 2 step , slip the clutch and then just a nasty bog,... I figured well just run the car down the track, As I was rifling through the gears.. the car just kept on breaking up under boost. WTF it was completely fine on the drive down to the track ?
I then decided, lets take a look at the plugs...they were gapped at 32 and looked just fine, so I dropped the gap down to 25.. and made a pass... that is what netted the close to 127 mph run... once again the launch was not very good and there was a bunch of short shifting in the lower gears.
Anyway , back to the evo, I think with some more seat time .. the car has low 11s, high tens in it. Not bad for 93 octane. However I must say, after driving my eclipse, the evo feels really really slow
I made two more passes in the dsm both were in the Mid 11s @ 138 - 140 mph trap speeds.
Then I wanted to have a race with the red car and my evo, so I figured I would drive my evo and I would let Jake ( jacobdsm) drive the eclipse.
He does an epic burnout in the car, doing some weird concotion holding the steering wheel with his Knee, holding the staging brake and shifting with his other hand ....
here is that video the red car has finally gone 10s ....... WE ARE SO HAPPY, I can't even begin to tell you what a great feeling it is. After all these year and hard work, the car is finally starting to respond. and we are just getting started .

congratulations to you xcelr8 and Kouzman, for getting into the 10s...
The evo has a 35r, with a tial comp housing and GT turbine housing. It was my second time launching with the exedy , so really I was having a very difficult time with the evo. It definitely has a lot more left in it. I think with some practise, the evo will be in the low 130s Mph.
