12 sec. club!

So I finally got a chance to get out to the track last night. My mods are just a turbo back exhaust from Helix. My first run i pulled a 13.3 @ 105 and I was shocked at the trap speed. Later i pulled a 13.0 and finally a 12.9.....here are the stats.

R/T: .140
60': 1.798
330: 5.372
1/8: 8.331
MPH: 82.71
1000: 10.882
1/4: 13.021
MPH: 105.82

R/T: .387
60': 1.818
330: 5.356
1/8: 8.298
MPH: 83.06
1000: 10.849
1/4: 12.982
MPH: 105.67

I only ran the 12.9 once. It was the last run of the day because the track was closing. Dunno if I could do it again judging by my many 13.1 runs before hand. Anyways, I was just wondering how these times faired up based on my mods. I was pretty happy about the high 12 sec. pass but someone can burst my bubble and tell me thats what im supposed to be running. I'm just curious... thanks!

Haha, yeah that doesn't really seem like an easy task....But I'd like to save for an AEM. We'll see where that gets me.

Wow, What track. Times look really impressive for your level of mods. Evos must be getting faster from the factory or you got a preproduction Evo by mistake.

Next thing I would do is raise your launch rpm and get the 60' times down a tenth. There is some ET to be had still in driving.

105mph seems pretty good to me for just exhaust, so the car is doing it's job well IMHO.

Thanks for the comments. I'm still amazed at how much that exhaust helped out because my best time was a 13.7 @ 100, stock.

105 mph is great for just exhaust. you will have a lot of improvement with just a few more mods.

I was running 93 octane from the pump. As far as boost goes, whatever stock is (19psi?)....it was spiking at about 1.3 or 1.4 bar then dropping to about 1.1 bar. As far as go fast mods go, the only mod done to the car is the exhaust.

I think you have a very fast EVO and while the exhaust certainly helped, the biggest difference in the two times, is experience and/or tracks, not sure if you ran at two different tracks. I don't think your car was ever a 13.7 second car, it was always capable of much more. The driver mod, can be one of the best mods a person can do, I took off almost a full second on my E.T. with my VR4 with just better driving, and i still had room to improve.

I totally agree with the driver mod. But to my knowledge, I haven't changed the way i've driven the car. If so, I definately wasn't concious of it.

Though all times were ran at the same track, they were at different times of the year. Which can make a big difference considering the amount of humidity we get around here...
