So for the last week i've been driving the 2.5 The car is sick. Anyway, when it started snowing today, i decided to hit up the local stop & shop for some donut action. I was about 15 spins in and i remembered something about donuts being bad for AWD, but i couldnt remember what. So whats the deal, it is something about having the wheel all the way over that hurts the rear diff?

yea, its tends to heat up the diff. goo rendering it ineffective.

I don't think you would really have to worry about it too much unless your just going nuts with it. Then I suppose you could burn your diff up. Otherwise, haveing a little fun isn't going to hurt either.

On a side note, when doing doughnuts, people who are dumb enough to keep the steering locked in one direction have been know to ruin the power steering pump. Espically on Subarus.

yea. i do donuts all the time in Phils. even though there isn't snow there. there, i drive a toyota corolla liftback. its a rear wheel drive 3-door hatchback. all the mods in it are top-of-the-line. me and my friend raced once and guess what...instead of regular gas...i used high octane ags from the airport. about a mile the car overheated. took me whole hr. to get back on the road. i usually do this when i'm racing but not on new cars like evo, lancers...note: that was around 70's

The Evo was not built to be destroyed by someone, it was built to be taken to the track (not 1/4 mile).

If you have the manual tranny and you are doing donuts you shouldn't worry because the differential is viscous, therefore it is just liquid heating up. I have a 2.5RS as well.
