Now that AMS is running 155+ sounds like you need to call of Full-Race engineering and have them build you a setup to run 160+! Let's see some competition!

So Al you've given up on the 2.0L? So now your moving up to a stroker, for more power?

I mean AMS is still moving forward with a 2.0L and getting great results.

I think what AMS is doing is great

I am doing my own thing and I have different goals at this time

Maybe next year a GT42 may be in my plans - who knows

At this point I was shooting for a set up that could run consistant and reliable high 9 second passes and with the turbo I am currently using the GT40 was not really working out well on the 2.0 L and I thought that it may work better on the stroker

My idea is a car which can go 9's but which is also very enjoyable and streetable on the road.

Also - I think that for my customers on the street who are not drag racers a stroker is going to be a very popular and upcomming evo modification

installing, tuning and testing a stroker on my own evo is the fastest and easiest way for me to accelerate my own learning curve on stroker set up and tuning

As I am going forward, I will be posting up details and data here for those who may be interested

BTW - for those who have not driven one - stroker engines are a lot of fun - loads of tq.

what are the trade offs between a built 2.0L vs. a 2.4L?

Its actually 2.2 and change - it uses the 2.4 crank and 2.0 block

The 2.0 has a much higher upper rev limiter and will make more power at high rpms due to physical science of piston speed

The 2.2 and change a/k/a stroker generates more low end grunt, gets the turbo spooling faster but gives up upper rpms capacity due to the ultra high piston speeds it generates at high rpms

originally Mr. Buschur told me lasy year 8,000 as a reliable rev limit which ruled it out for my racing as I must go about 8,600 rpms in 4th gear at the track

However, over time Mr. Buschur has pushed these motors harder and harder and they have gone well over 9,000 rpms with no ill effects (DON'T TRY THAT STUNT AT HOME)

This great news combined with the fact that there has been no reported failures of any Buschur storker kit got me thinking to give one a try

After I drove a customer's car which had a complete Buschur stage 4, GT35R and stroker on the street and was chirping all 4 tires shifting gears that is when I decided to give it a try

I intend to explore the limits of what it can do and how it does it

i just wanted to add that my short block I ordered from Buschur is a 100% standard stroker that they sell to anyone.

The ONLY modification I added was to o-ring the block

Al, a couple more questions.....Ive heard using o-rings on the block is a bit of a double edged sword...extremely durable, yes, but in the event something goes wrong, the first thing to take the hit is going to be the piston, not the head gasket. Just curious what your thoughts are.

Secondly, standard oil? Ive heard you change your oil like once every two weeks or something like that....so I can see why standard oil is sufficient in saving costs.....just curious as to that also. Let us know when you get it fired up and tuned to race.

I have never broke a piston yet. I also never blew a head gasket yet - no problems in either department

Its the rod bearings that dont seem to last an entire season so I will start changing them every 4 races.

I change the oil after every time i drive the car
