Case study # 101 - chasing the white rabbit

Guys - I am trying hard to surpass the claimed 440 whp that one tuner made with the white rabbit turbo

Since no one else has made that much power either I should not feel so bad - but I am trying anyway

Here is my latest attempt

Mods were

Dyno Flash
264 / 264 Cams
Ported head and valve springs
Buschur 3" Exhuast
Buschur fmic
Buschur intake and fmic pipes
680 injectors
walbro fuel pump
Buschur Alcohol kit

NX 50 shot Nitrous

As you can see - its tough to go over 400 whp but we did !

I don't get this turbo at all, people make 400WHP with those mods with stock turbo.

Still kinda sucks (the turbo, not your tuning), considering it took a 50 shot of nitrous to do it.

I agree, i'd never and will never buy that turbo. It's a shame all the hype was just crap with the 440WHP dyno.

Congratulations, Al!

I consider myself fortunate to have been there to actually witness this dynopull rather than just believe some stuff written on the inter-web about some phantom 400+hp pulls.

So you're saying that you're not able to tune the car to its full potential?
At least be direct and honest that you're trying to say "the other tuner" is basically inventing dyno graphs in photoshop in his spare time.

Also, what's the deal with the detonation between 4k and 5k?
If this car has a ported head, why are you ending the run at 7500?
Have you tried degreeing the cams at all to make more power?
Are you aware that the 440whp run by "the other tuner" was done on VP Racing 120 octane fuel, which you say here that just by using VP 120 over C-16, you saw a 5% power increase on your own car?
Are you also aware that the 440whp run was also done using an AEM EMS, and not a reflash, which you say here has (and this is a direct quote) "much greater performance potential through the elimination of the MAF...its easy to see where some extra power can be made"?

Not trying to attack you here, just trying to take the propaganda out of the situation and reduce it to a pure apples to apples comparison.

Sorry Al, but I would sure as heck hope you would make that kind of power with those mods!!!! AND it took a 50-shot of nitrous to put it over 400! There's a bunch of other cars making that much if not more power than that on the stock turbo. Yeah, the power band picks up a LITTLE quicker and holds a LITTLE more than stock...but IMO it doesn't do nearly what the hype was and is a mod that is way overpriced.

What can I say to you . . . ?"Get a life" - you have too much spare time on your hands.

You have an active imagination.

BTW - this tune was with C16

There was no detonation - just some air in the nitrous lines (no purge) so it was a bit uneven in the beginning.

If I was tuning on C16 with alcohol injection and nitrous and a full stage 4 plus car and I could only bearly make 400 whp . . . . . .

And if the other tuner was on a stock car without cams with only exhuast and VP import gas and he made 440

I guess there are several conclusions you could make

I will leave it to the active imaginations of the readers to draw their own conclusions

All these smaller turbos all loose boost at the topend. Al, what turbo do you suggest will actually hold 29 psi to redline(of the smaller turbos)?
