Evo IX P0300 code.

Al, I changed plugs and wires on my car but still have the repeating P0300 code. I posted a big thread with lots more info here. Its everyday now.

Do you or does anyone else have any suggestions for me to try to figure this one out. Do you think it could be my ECU itself? Is there any way to tell short of swapping the ECU out? I would really like to fix this myself because the dealer is no help at all and I dont want to return to stock again since they were no help at all last time I did that. The code seems to come on randomly although it seems more common when the car is returning to idle or even idling.

I think I may have figure it out. I just checked the differences between the stock map that I have and my custom tune and they have a different revision. My stock map is 88590015 and my custom map is 88590013. Al, can you please redo my custom map on revision 88590015 that fixes Mitsubishi TSB-06-13-005 Freeze-frame data for misfire condition on my custom map?

Al, switching to a 15 map made no difference at all. Still throwing a code regularly - P0303, at least now the ECU is telling me which cylinder is misfiring. I'm going to give you a call to see if you can help me troubleshoot this. When I changed the plugs #3 (counting from the pulley side of the motor going right) was leaner than the other 3 plugs.

Al, thanks for the response! It threw the code on a stock version 15 map so revision and tune were not responsible. I then tried swapping the ignition coils to see if it would throw a different code (P0301,0302, or 0304) but it just went back to P0300. I was getting ready to compression test and decided to run some Fuel Injector cleaner through it because plug 3 looked a tad bit lean so that indicated a possible fuel problem. That tank is over half empty now and I havent had the code in 3 days! it was throwing the code everytime I started and drove it. I think it just had a dirty / clogged injector. If it comes back I'll compression test and do a boost / vacuum leak test if necessary.

Upadate on my P0300 woes.

I picked up my car on Monday from the dealer, they finally replaced all 4 injectors. The car is idling smoother and appears to be running better as well. The mechanic told me he has never had to replace a faulty injector. They did a top engine clean and an injector service prior to installing new injectors. No P030x as of yet. Crossing my fingers.
