Never mind S5 - new RS6 is rumoured to have the V10 TDI pumping put 600hp! Or if you live in Europe, you can place an order for Q7 V12 TDI with even more HP and an unreal gas, I mean diesel, mileage to boot!

I'll have to make do with our new Q7 4.2Premium, sigh.... ;-) We absolutely love it! Interesting that Q7 V12 TDI develops about twice as much HP and torque as ours, and yet all transmission internals are the same! That Audi quattro AWD system is very, very robust!

New RS6 will not be diesel, it will be gas powered, I highly doubt even with lemans wins it will sell over here, nobody wants to pay 80k for a diesel sport car.

One of the early RS6 test mules indeed had a TDI. It does look like RS6 may end up with a turbocharged V10 with about 550hp.

However, there are plenty of R8 deposit-holders clamoring for an R8 V10 TDI and are more then willing to spend way north of 100k for the privilege of owning one, here in the US, never mind elsewhere in the world where diesel does not carry a stigma.

Besides, what is so terrible about a stock 500hp, 700lb-ft sports car regardless of the fuel it runs on?

Oh, and I venture a guess a good 1/2 of all the people who purchased Audi vehicles here in the US would opt for a diesel variant if it were available - I know I would!

From what I just read in Automobile magzine - the S5 comes out in November and is going to cost about $55,000 or so which IMHO is a resonable price

I would prefer the TDI version with the V6 but we in the US apparently wont get that version
