Doc, Do these two companies test for different things? Can you get us the test kits for Oil Analyzers for the cheaper price?

Yes, I was referring to standard fuel which in most cases is up to 10% Alky and also things like HEET and other gas line products....

I'm interested in your findings on this. I intend to start running E85 in the next month or so. Please post up what you find.

Although further testing needs to be done to see how oils will react with an 85% Alcohol blend, AMSOIL has developed 3 new oils, which will be available Aug 1st, that will not be affected by alcohol. They will not be for extended drain intervals unless verified by Oil Analysis.

These oils will probably suit the EVO crowd and anyone else who tracks their cars.. These are ALL Racing oils.. 15W-50... and the two to fit these cars, 10W-30 and 5W-20....

The 5W-20 will probably be the hot ticket for the ultimate in over all performance.

email me and I will send tech liturature as soon as available.. AMSOIL@bestoil4you.com

OK, now that I'm running E85, and thinking about oil analysis, how often should this be done?

I'm referring to oil analysis primarily as a means of more accurately determining when I should change oil. And if that need has actually changed since switching to E85.

When on gasoline I vacillated between 3,000 and 5,000 mile changes. I actually considered going to 6,000 with an additional filter change at 3,000, but just never went to the trouble.

On a more pragmatic note, is there a simple way to extract enough oil for an oil analysis submission?

When I get my oil analysis from Blackstone, they'll typically tell me how long I can run with the oil. You can request a recommended oil change interval based upon what the analysis reveals.

Very interested! I run Amsoil for all fluids in my car and will definitely look into these for the next change.
You should post the info right in this thread with more details once they come out.

I would do the oil analysis, but i recently moved and now i'm 40 miles away from the closest E85 station. So, i'll be using 91 octane most of the time now for daily commuting

The product will not be available until Aug 1st... but that is only just over a week away... if the data sheets are available, I will link them to a page inside my site when I get home in a couple days.
