spend 30 bucks on a pump...

or go to a pet store or even walmart and buy air hose, 1.99 for 25' (the kind for fish tanks)

just stick it down your dipstick and start to siphon. (The local amsoil guy mentioned this method to me. the only downside is that if the oil is thick it may be a slow process). I usually just get samples during oil changes.

I would think E85 should be ok on oil considering the Flex Fuel cars use the same oil...

These differences would apply, IMHO:
1. Flex-fuel vehicles are not tuned for max performance like most of our EVOs.
2. Increased opportunity for oil dilution since EVOs often run enriched AFRs.
3. Overall increased stresses on the engine - small engine in (relatively) big 4-door sedan.
4. EVOs run higher RPMs than flex-fuel motors.
5. We EVO owners are famous for squeezing 300-400-500hp out of a 122ci motor. OUCH!

Please report back to this thread with your progress reports.

Do you plan to change oil at 5K regardless, or to wait and see what the analysis says?

I will probably change at 5k regardless. Even if the oil can take it, my worry is that my filter might not be working as well. Besides, since i am not really paying for it i might switch back to Motul for the next change.

Also, my driving habits are as follows...

Usually 600-800 miles a month freeway between Orange county and Las Vegas. Mileage has been about 18-19 on straight highway (staying out of boost). Around town i am averaging 14mpg. I could get better mileage if i changed my driving habits... Usually 2k miles a month of driving. Toss in an ocassional AutoX or RallyX.

My oil smells like Wesson cooking oil rather than burnt gasoline smelling oil...

Not sure if everyone following this post saw my post on oil analysis. but Mobil 1 holds up quite well to 85. I didnt notice the cooking oil smell from the Nevada E85.. Maybe now that i live here in cali i will get to smell that sweet smell.
