OK, I'll try less timing. I'm on the 94170014 ROM w/Tephra 5.1 mods.

From my understanding, whomever tunes the car sets up how sensative the knock indicator is which can be adjusted in ECUflash.

Correct, you can set at what knock sum the CEL light flashes, and also what knock sum the CEL light flashes slow or fast. You can also set length of the flashing.

Any ideas? Is this simply coincidence?

Check your fuel trims. If your injectors are not scaled properly, then the trims might be out of range and this will trigger p0300.

Please school me or point me to a reference...thanks! The injectors were scaled when the car was tuned, but I know it always pays to double check everything...twice. I just have not been able to find a clear enough (for me) explanation.

You could simply do a log of your car after warmed up and maybe a drive to see what your fuel trims are. Some say the fuel trims should be within +/- 3 and others say 5. .... For me I was getting p0300 and and 304's for a long time and my trims were within plus minus 2. I finally figured it out and it was during warmup the car would run like crap. I ended up changing the RPM's at warmup upward to compensate and no more codes. Sad part is I will have to look at current ROM to see even which part or even the name of the table that was changed it listed RPM by temp. expressed in celsius I believe
