I have had three 55 gallon steel drums full of E85 in box container since march of 2014 and it still tests out at 84% ethanol. No weird color or smell either.

Friend of mine tested at E78 while filling a 55 gallon drums and several months later it tested E78 still. As long as the container is sealed well and kept off the ground E85 seems to store really well.
