Or have someone check the runout of the lobes and see if they are straight like Brian was talking about.

I'm not sure if it is worth it. I'm not quite to the point where I want to pull them out, but if I do and find that the stock cams eliminate the problem then the cause because purely academic.

Update:

The Accel Enrichment vs. Temp table doesn't affect the knocksum.

I finally bit the bullet and played with the knock control tables. I raised the low multiplies by 3 (to 16) and the mid by 2 (to 20). I then raised the load value to 120 @ 2500 and 95 @ 3000,3500.

That caused basically all of the free-revving knock counts and the persistent ones that I get under light throttle to go away. Maybe it _is_ just valve train or drivetrain noise. *shrug* I do have aftermarket motor mounts.

Did I just set myself up for catastrophe? Will those small changes have a big effect once I load the car up on track? In those load cells I'm running the stock timing values on E85, although I'd like to run some 91 occasionally too...

update:

I drove around today while listening with detonation cans . I didn't hear any knock, just a rhythmic combustion sound and a little bit of valve train noise in the background.

I'm curious what folks think about my change to knock sensor tables...

I upped mine awhile ago. Phantom knock is a pain...big cams, stiff mounts...etc = knock
