Dual Map Tune... what to do when switching?
Quick question for ya'll. I am possibly picking up an Evo IX tomorrow, and it has a dual-map tune going for E85 and 91. When switching to the 91 map from the E85, do I have to drain the tank of E85, just run the car completely out of gas, or can I leave a small amount of E85 in the tank when filling up with 91?Here is the tuner's site if it helps: http://www.wingzperformance.com/

I run mine until the red warning light turns on. Switch to E85 or 91. Run it until the gas light turns on again. Fill the tank again and boost away.
Any responsible tuner should tune in a margin of safety so you should be fine getting on it by the 2nd full tank.
Or you can call your tuner and ask him how to switch maps.

Usually your tuner should tell you kinda what levels you were tuned on of each and weather he just ran till low gas light came and filled up with e85 or if he drained the tank and ran 100% E85, etc. I have this talk with every client after a dual tune.
But usually when going to PUMP from E85, if you have a lil E85 in the tank, it will just make the pump gas a lil better ie 92oct and should be fine on your 91 map. It may run a tad bit leaner, depending on how much E85 was left in the tank when you filled uwp with pump.

Edit: Was buzzing around today & not sure why but the exhaust note seems louder or more harsh than on the E85. Sometime forget how clean & sweet the E is =)

I'm on e85 most of the time but when I'm forced to run gas I usually run to below an eighth of a tank then add gas with the car running..... if you don't do this it will take multiple attempts to start the car because your fuel lines will have e85 in it but the tune will be providing 30% less sauce.

Depends on the year car but there are different options to switch maps. Can use ICS switching if you have it or TPS if not. I switch with TPS so I just hold the gas pedal down for a set amount of time and it will switch maps that way. I have my CEL flash fast for E85 and slow for 93 to verify what map I'm on when switching.

Hi guys, I recently imported an Mitsubishi Evo 9 from USA.The car has some mods on it like bigger throttle body, big injectors, full exhaust and so on. The problem that I have is that I don't know if the car runs on E85 or on regular pump gas.In my country E85 isn't available I can't ask the seller because I bought the car at an auction and on the export certificate doesn't say who's the seller. O checked and there's like a quarter of a tank left of gas in it, is there a way to determine if that is E85 or regular pump gas?

I tried and I can't tell.I don't know the laws in the USA, but is it posibile to find the previous owner of the car to ask him.All I got is the VIN, I know that it insured at Geico in New York state.I tried looking at others cars on this forum, maybe the owner was or still is a member here
