Well if they were ground on a 110* centerline like the HKS 280's (which is kind of a waste IMHO) then for peak power at 8K you would still want 0* on the map for peak power. If it was 130* centerline like stock, then you need more like 7 or 8* crank advance. Having an adjustable cam gear on the exhaust cam would of course also effect where it needs mapped. Was there a cam card that came with the cams Guerillah?

Lots of variables that have to be filled in first before I would guess. My map is based on the cams I am going to have ground so it may or may not help. I spose if nothing else it would be a baseline, but really any of the maps posted can do that and then work from there.

hey john, i was running that mivec map you posted for awhile, spool was wonderful, but since installing my ported hotside, ported mani and O2 i was getting a buttload of boost creep in 4th, jumping from a solid 22.5 to 24 and slowly rising..... do you have any other maps or any suggestions on how to stop the creep thru tuning the mivec ?

If you are still using the stock ECU for boost control, I'd taper it back. I personally have been running 24-25 at peak torque and love it but thats me.

Just get a MBC, the stock Boost controller is almost useless.

read my sig...

i havent been on the stock BC since about a month into the car... this is my second evo, im pretty solid as far as what i need to do and how to do it, im just new to the tuning area and really new to the tuning of mivec. the map i was running was great... was spiking to 24 drop back to 22.5 to 23 and hold only tapering in 3rd gear to 20, 4th it would hold solid. Now that i have the ported parts on, i was getting creep and it was causing knock.

I basically need some help with how to adjust mivec. there isnt any straight forward threads about it that i have found as far as what adjustments do what and where. If anyone knows of one, please point me.... i've read all the threads i have found concerning mivec and would love to learn more

Well if you are using my MIVEC map, reduce the amount of advance right before and right at the rpm range where its creeping. If that doesnt fix it, its probably adviseable to go back to some form of EBC to taper the creep out. You have a log to look at?

why not just adjust the gain on the EBC?
That's what it's there for.

i can post the last log i took...but the knock was crazy so im not on that map anymore needless to say .... i dont have an EBC, if i did, i suppose boost creep wouldnt be an issue but unfortunately it is. i love the way that mivec map felt though which is why i hated to change back... if i were to reduce the advance, it would be in 4th gear, at what i think was 220 to 230 load at 5500 rpms on... what would you suggest i back it down to ?

ill attach the log. boost was at 23, af's were 11.1 to 11.3 in 3rd and 11.0 in 4th

if you want my map, i will email it to you

Just curioius and slightly off topic but I've recently started logging and my coolant temps come up @ 204, do you have and aftermarket thermostat?

My VVT Map only goes to 7K RPM, how are folks adding two rows for 7500 and 8000?

I am currently at 4.8 @6500 + from load 100 + and am curious where folks are tuning to -- I have not read of any new information since July timeframe. Thanks

Weird about coolant, I changed it less than six months ago and am running blue ice, supposedly runs cooler, also the car only has 19000 miles on it. I need to relog, this was also on a cool day(59 degrees)

Rescaled the map in order to add the extra 2 rpm slots. You take out some of the tuneability below 2K, but since I never spend time there I dont worry about it.

Thanks John -- I have been struggling figuring out how to rescale. Do you select Edit > Edit Map Definitions and then change the number of Elements within RPM from 16 to like 20 and get more control?
