Close.... 50-70 load at 2500 rpm cruise at 25mph.

I have confirmed that the car only feels this way with the more aggressive mivec map.

The new mivec map puts me in the 30* range where it used to be 14-20*.

Well I logged my issue this morning. Its when I first go into second gear and cruise at 2500-3000 rpm. Load is around 50. For some reason my timing doesn't advance like it should. I see 8-10* instead of 20-30*.

probably a temp issue since the motor's cold to stop you from blowing it up before it hits operating temp.

I'm not sure about that. With a load of only 70 I'm simply cruising down the street. It only happens when the mivec is advanced beyond the stock level. Keeping everything else the same and putting my stock mivec map in the issue is corrected. I'm tempted to reduce the mivec at those load areas as I doubt it will make that much of a difference anyway.

The computer on Honda motors will not allow vtec until certain parameters(temp, etc) are met, maybe this is the same thing going on, just an idea.

No MIVEC also has the advantage of altering cold idle emissions. It works all the time. I went through this last year and I think it has more to do with cold weather and the cold fueling modifiers in the ECU than MIVEC. Least thats my current operating theory.

^^^ Well my overall point is that it doesn't feel right. It feels like I'm trying to push the motor to do something it doesn't want to. I'm surprised no one else has noticed this.

The lack of ignition advance is likely the culprit making it sluggish. But why would alterations to the MIVEC table affect the ignition timing? This is odd...

Nothing better to do .. so did a load test .. this is the result ..

0 degrees
15 degrees
30 degrees

more or less agrees with the others that tested ..

Full advance up to around 6000
6000-7000rpms taper to 15
0 advance above 7500rpms

So have you combined all three and done another load test, and which is which one the test(30 is highest load at lowend, etc.) I am guessing thats it but clarify some please.

didn't have that load test overlayed on this if that's what you're asking .. but yes, overall that was what I had .. combined the 3 and use the result ..

Yes .. that's what my car likes .. and it seems consistent with what the others have .. except for exactly when the cams should start retarding
