Nope, haven't tried the BR9's yet.. HOWEVER, I do have a few sets of different types of plugs that I will try as I do more tuning. I'm waiting on some replacement electronics for my blowthrough meter before I finish tuning my car.

I guess all stock ignitions aren't created equal? I had a problem with my boost control and was getting up to 24 psi on pump fuel with the stock plugs gapped to .028 or even higher. The car never missed a beat.

The age and wear on the plugs, condition of the coils and wires, all have an impact.. I can run a looser gap, but they wear pretty quickly and you get misfire within about 3000 miles..

damn stock plugs @ .028 huh, I'm using br7es gapped @ .024, maybe I'll try opening them up a bit next time i switch.

I know I was getting misfires @ .028 with the stock turbo & 24psi...

They aren't new plugs either, I've got at least 25k on them

Makes me wonder if the p0300 and ignition system "strength" go hand in hand. I have a younger brother with an 03 Evo also and he has had problems with the 0300 and random misfires at WOT with mild mods and a narrow gap. I on the other hand have never had a 300 other than when I was adding timing with the Xede and my car has never misfired under WOT.

The Br's (no P) allow a bit more advance in the midrange. At .024 they work really well up to about 28 on th stock turbo.
Had mine to about 33 psi on the 35r and they are still ticking well.

br7es are 1/2 heat range colder then the brp7es.

as far as midrange timing goes... what kind of numbers is everyone running? I'm targeting about 7-8* @ 5500 RPM and it ramps up to 15-16 by 7k.

plugs are cheap so I replace them often. I have a set of br8es gapped at .024 waiting to try...

I'm thinking about swapping mine out to see if there's anything to gain.

I'm assuming you mean GM Blowthrough??

One of the best upgrades is the 1G Ignition setup, or a 1G Igniter and 300m coils..
