New to ECUFlash - logs inside
Hey guys,
I just started working with ECUFlash for the Subaru's and Evo's and I've been taking a look at my buddy's car. He has a 05 Evo with Buschur's Stage 3 setup with 280 cams.
We have the EvoScan .9 software to do the logging with. I tried using MalibuJack's EvoScan log analyzer to get load but it didn't work. So I found the equation he used (load = 5 * injector scaling * (IPW Latency) / AFRMAP). But as you can see, my load numbers didn't come up correctly. What exactly is the AFRMAP? My numbers are anywhere between ~120 and ~180 for this pull.
For some reason, I can't seem to get the "code" feature to work the way I want it to and can't post the entire log. But injector scaling is 513 and I interpolated the IPW latency based on the battery voltages in the log. What am I missing?
Anyways, things are not looking very good IMO. The knocksum looks pretty high. What is the max. knocksum?
AFR's look decent.
Guess I'm just looking for advice right now.

I agree with you. That's why I'm trying to figure this stuff out before I put the car on the dyno to start tuning.
I don't really think the fuel and timing map are that aggressive. But I do know that this tune was done for 22psi and the car is now running 24psi. So i'm guessing that has something to do with it.

AFRMAP is an internal value the ECU uses to calculate fuelling. It has the same scaling as the real numbers in the fuel maps (128=14.7, high numbers are richer in proportion). By knowing what AFR the ECU wants, the idea is that from the injector time it runs you can tell how much air it measured - ie a proxy for load.
You actually need to log the AFRMAP and IPW values though. Evoscan 0.9 does this, on 0.8 you need to edit data.xml
A n00b finding this thread and saving the map images herein before they are pulled would experience similar to an incident I remember that I call profiterole surprise. At a lunchtime function I reach for what I believe to be a profiterole, only to find it to be a rather substandard fishy pastry thing

As for logging. I did log AFRMAP and IPW with the Evoscan 0.9. But when I tried to calculate the load with the equation in my first post it didn't give me numbers that were correct.
For example, here is a point in the log
RPM = 4468.75
Airflow = 1333.48
AFRMAP = 182
Battery Voltage = 13.6338V
Injector Scaling = 513
Latency compensation = 11.72V=0.672 and 14.06=0.432
So latency compensation at 13.6338V = 0.476
Load = 5 * injector scaling * (IPW latency) / (AFRMAP)
Load = 5 * 513 * 0.476 / 182 = 6.71
that's not right.
