04 & 05 ROM differences

Its pretty well known that you shouldn't VTA your BOV on an 03 or 04 EVO because it will run like poop. But I recall reading somewhere on here that on the late model 05 EVO's this was acceptable because somewhere in the software the ECU was able to compensate for the rich condition when you lift off the gas.

Do anyone know if there is any truth to this myth?

That is absolutely a myth....

There are some different MAF smoothing values and other things that will resolve stalling due to MAF turbulence when recirculating.. It helps when people have aftermarket intake pipes and recirculating DV's..

And its more tolerant of sudden changes in AFR's that would shift the trims severely (Causing the stalling) momentarily.. But it cannot and will not ever fix the ability to run a VTA BOV on a Maf equipped car.. Theres just no way to compensate for that missing air.. PERIOD EXCLAMATION POINT..

On a second note, for those of us with 03/04 ROM, using stock DV with a pre-EcuFlash tuned HKS RS intake, would there be any benefit pasting any of the 05 ROM parameters, if so, what are they?

THanks

Thanks for the answer (below), one less thing to think about
