What timing are you running for peak torque and max RPM

What timing are you running for peak torque and max RPM?

I realize that this is dependent on mods, what octane gas you are running, boost, etc. However I thought that it would be interesting to hear people's timing numbers for peak torque and max rpm.

In addition you might want to factor in the actual timing number at peak torque (vs. the number on the map for that given load) since many of us have a little knock in that area which results in less timing advance from the map number.

It seems like you could build a good map around these crutial points.

4* - 7* at Peak torque depending on knock counts (Approx 3750 RPM)

14* or 15* at 7000+ RPM

See sig for mods 21-22 Peak Boost, 93 Octane

From what I can see via logs I am hitting 240 load max.

I'm running the White Rabbit which actually hits peak boost a little later than the stock turbo so I run a bit more timing at peak torque.

7*-8* at PK torque (4000 RPM)

20*-21* at 7500 RPM

Mods are in my sig. I run 22-23 Peak boost, tapering to 20.5-21 at 7500 RPM according to GM 3 bar MAP sensor. 93 Oct. 11.1-11.3 AFR.

21 psi via gm3bar and ecu+ taper to 17 at 7500 (reads 24-25 psi peak on my defi gauge)

2*-3* from 3500-4000 (260 load)
15* at 7500 (220 load)

93 octane

afr's between 11.5 and 11.1 3rd gear and up, depending on load and gear. Still tuning.

mods are in the sig.

Mine is similar to mad VIII I was running 4 to 5 at peak torque showed no knock in 3rd but in 4th gear showed 5 to 6 knock sum so I dropped to 3 to 4 at peak torque and so far no knock on 3 4th gear runs up top running 16 - 17

Map and logs both have 9 - 8 peak, unless load pushes beyond 280% (max).

22 tops at redline.

Methanol and 24 psi

For me, Methanol really exterminates all knock at peak, it's less effective during fast transitions (180 - 220%)

exactly, once I started tuning in 4th and 5th I had to revise a lot due to the 5-6 counts you tend to get when going wot at 3,000 rpm in 5th gear

I thought I was the only one running low timing at peak torque XD.

2006 EVO IX - 11.2~ AFR til 7000RPM 11.0-10.8 AFR til redline (7800rpm)

Started pulls at 3000rpm..

0 deg @ 3600 rpm
10 deg @ 6700 rpm

300 load @ 3600 rpm
216 load @ 7000 rpm (damn boost droppage )

15 degrees peak timing at 7250 rpm til redline

91 octane, 23.5 psi (probably less, boost gauge sucks)
0 knock across the board

How the hell you guys get such high load numbers on your IXs with stock turbo? Mine only got a max of 270 and thats at the track on 110 octane gas peaking 28psi at 1200ft of elevation. Do you guys live at or below sea level or what?

It's obviously not correct, they should also be looking at their timing (if no knocks) and see what load column that falls into.

Maybe your elevation has something to do with it? I'm at sea level.
