Strange RPM values

Okay, I've recently been able to finally start messing around with ecuflash and other stuff. I finally got my MBC installed (was in Iraq for a year, now I'm back! yay!). Anyway, I was trying to set my boost to 21 psi. When I got close I hit boost cut, so I turned it down to a barely 20psi, holding about 18.5 to redline. Well, I hit boost cut again on the freeway in fifth gear. Sucks ***!

Then it hit me, I'm a dumbass! All I have to do is increase my boost limit values. Well, I just opened EcuFlash, went to the boost limit maps, and the "rpm" values in the left column are out of wack. It reads like this:

250
281
312
255996
136266
255996
136242
43
115199

WTF is that all about? In all my other maps, such as fuel, timing, boost desired engine load etc. the rpm values are normal. Should this be something I need to worry about? Or is it still okay to change all the values in the right column to 319 so I won't hit boost cut when I'm trying to boost a measly 21psi?

By the way, sorry if this has been brought up before. In all my time reading through all these threads I have yet to see it. And trust me, I've spent a LOT of time in here.

Also, in the Error Correction map, are the values on the left supposed to be in rpms, or are the supposed to be something different? Edit: Nevermind this, I found it out.

Sorry for sounding like a newb, and thanks for the help.

It means the map associated with your Rom is not correct.. Or at least, not exactly the right one. You need to be real careful about your maps, and be certain that the Fuel and timing maps (among others) are correct.. If their offset, or wrong, you can be messing with the code of the rom and not the data.

You need to be 100% certain the map is associated with the right ECUFlash definition, or at least one so close that only the RPM axis is wrong.. Do not "Fix" the RPM axis though, it will alter code in the ECU if you do.. you need to find the right location for those axis'...

Thanks for the help. You say that I need to be certain that the fuel and timing maps are correct. How would I know for sure? They look right to me. All the rpm values look correct, and are incremental, as well as the load values. They look exactly like the ones shown in the beginners tutorial. It's just the rpm values in the boost limit map. I've checked out all the other maps, and that's the only one it happens in. Also, the % in the right column appear to be correct. They read:

230
230
225
225
225
etc...

So since it appears I don't have the right association for this map, then I shouldn't even change the %values in the right hand column? If I don't mess with the rpms (which I wasn't going to do anyway) then would it be okay to raise my boost limit values?

Like I said, everything else works great. The first thing I did was to set my stationary rev limit, and it worked like a charm. I have yet to start on my fuel and timing maps though, which I am going to wait to do until I get this other stuff straightened out. That boost cut is driving my nuts.

Thanks for the help Jack.

It should be, you probably have a 9714011 rom and you used the 9714008 definition, if thats the case, then you probably can change the data portion (not altering the axis)

However, make sure you have an original copy of your rom set aside "Just in case" it gets fouled up and the car doesn't run right after flashing it.

I need to bump this having the same issue. Im trying to upgrade from my 94170008 to the 94170015 for P0300 fix. Copying in all my maps all RPM values in other maps are correct in the 94170015 except for Boost Limit rpm values.

Isnt this just a address I need to change in the XML file? If so do you guys know the right one

Ok just noticed by opening up the XML files that

The Boost Limit address and RPM address under it are the same in the 0008 and 0015 however in the 0015 there is a portion under that for Boost Enhancement/Antilag which the 0008 does not have.

Also in the Fuel and Timing drop down menus in EcuFlash for 0015 they have maps for Boost Enhancement/Anti Lag which my 0008 ROM does not have eaither

Try this instead, it's from my 0015 rom...

<table name="Boost Limit" address="3614">
<table name="RPM" address="6dd2" elements="9"/>

That should straighten it out, but just out of curiosity what version are you running?
