I think most of us would have no problem wiring in a switch.

I'm sick of flashing and reflashing my ECU for race gas.

I agree. I would consider a race gas tune if it were easier to access. I have no problem wiring a switch .. I already have a place for it =)

Well, what other switches do we have available that are ECU controlled? I'm thinking, shoot out any other options if they come to mind.

I would trade my Valet switch method for a Race Gas switch as I'm sure many people would as well - I dont let anyone drive my car anyhow so the Valet is not very useful but very cool.

I personally sleep much better now that I use my Valet as an anti-theft (set to 300rpm). I wouldn't want to give that up if i could get away with it. We'll think of something :-)

For the USDM cars, all the obvious inputs have been found. One possibility is to setup a morse code for the throttle to enable the different options.

This opens alot of possibilities..

Race map, Street Map, Valet Map

Failsafe map, Nitrous Map, etc..

At this point you would need a spare input for a map switch.. a rheostat or input might work well if it had detents..

Even if the maps are in rom, this is a huge deal.
can't routines be made also that if your o2 reads a certain condition (alcohol's specific afr) it'll autoswitch to that map?

can't we also delete some of these and have like a 64x64 map?

O2 sensors don't work that way... the O2 sensor reads a lambda value, not AFR, AFR is a number for humans to understnd. Stoich for any fuel will be roughly the same voltage output from the sensor. This is good for closed loop, assuming there was enough adjustment in fuel trims, it could accomodate it. However handling it automatically is more complex for open loop, especially when you want to make optimum power too, now you have boost and timing to take into account. GM Flex fuel vehicles have fuel composition sensors that can be used, but then there is some engineering and programming involved.

is there a way to use the emissions hardware as a trigger? there was that mention that alcohol expands more and some sensors pick that up as a deviation from nominal.

hrmm just resurrecting an old thread...

So I went to implement the injector scaling + latency (do we even need dual latency maps??) today, and have hit a snag...

The ecu doesn't use a pointer to the table, it uses the address of the table itself. This is a bit annoying as its harder to do a "shifty swap" like I am doing for Fuel+Timing...

So I have to think of a good way of doing it, maybe re-writting the block of code that references the injector tables... its not that much code but the thought of doing it for every ROMID is killing it for me

So I guess how important is injector scaling+latency swapping, I know for E85 its imperative, but for all you other guys would you need it?

i dont think at all,,,, most arent swapping those...... just changing from race to pump or meth to pump or gas saving

speaking of multiple maps, will you be spending any time on the boost control maps with this mod? paticularily the mrfred boost control modded maps?

I agree ... most of us don't switch injectors very often. A simple race/pump map switch would work great.

Personally, I switch high oct fuel map, all 3 high oct timing maps and the BCLO map for high octane fuel.
