Not trying to steal the post here but when you mentioned that knock count of > 3 will cause the ECU to pull timing (jumping to high det map) but knock count > 6 will cause ECU to decrement the octane number.
How are these 2 different? Not sure if on the stock ECU there's some sort of octane number multiplier?
thanks

Knock count of > 3 ECU decrements octane number and interpolates between High and low maps.

I managed to log my car tonight at the track. My knock counts at 7200 rpm to 7500 rpm went as high as 11. Most of my knock sum counts were 0, but as I reached the higher RPM's it gradually went 5, 7,7,11,9,7,5,0,0,0 and then back up again. 2nd gear, 3rd gear, 4th gear....once I hit the higher rpms.

It would be vastly more helpful if you gave much more information than you posted. Need to know things like, AFR throughout the pulls, Timing values, Octane used etc...
If you posted your timing maps, along with a data log, it would enable a lot of people on here to help much more.

My car seem to be experiencing knocks at high rpm also. Strange thing is it seem worse with I'm running 1.3 bar using EVC. On 1.5 bar, the knocks are lesser. I log using Mitsulogger.
Any thoughts, please?

I have a Buschur tune/mods listed in sig. I did a 3rd gear pull using EvoScan... I had a knock sum of 4 at around 3900rpm and then from then on I had 0 and 1 all the way through... prior to the 4 it was all 0 and 1 as well. I would imagine it pulled timing though? Is that why it went back down to 1 and 0?
I do not have a wideband(soon) and I'm running around 23 psi. That was on a 93/94 octane mix...

the load columns in my tunes taper timing at higher loads so that slight fluctuations in boost do not post a major problem.

I have my car mapped for 0 knock and its making good consistent power. it was tuned by Sam 'the Dentist' from the UK. For the second part of your question, no it is not running nearly as rich as stock to achieve that

sorry guys i didnt read the whole post but ill give my opinion on this knock thing. knock sum is something that every tuner needs to watch, but some get a little crazy with it. break down is that 0 counts = REALLY safe tune or perfect conditions. 3 to 5 = a moderate tune. 6 to 8 = an agressive tune, safe is good for someone not monitoring their car logging wise, moderate is more for someone who logs regularly and participates in racing events periodicaly, agressive is for the constant logging, every weekend racing son of gun. and as far as the pulling timing and all of that i havent seen it do that if the tune was correctlly dialed in. your gonna knock, almost every time you drive the car and believe it or not but the way you come in to boost your car can register as much as 14 or more counts.
you just want to monitor AF/Rs and watch that if you knock it feathers down and that your not holding a solid knock sum. NO ONE owning an evo should IMO run anything under 93 oct if they are holding 20 or more psi, oct. booster or having water/meth/alky injection will make a big safety buffer. Lastly to he guy who logs starting at 3k, you should really start your log aroung 2500 so that you can see the spool read outs via log, b/c you can somtimes spool really lean and that can throw knock all over the 2500-4000 range, it just gives you a little more controll.
