OBD-II Scantech Running on my Bench ECU Harness

These are the status monitors, its running on my bench harness, completely disembodied ECU.. Works for flashing, OBD-II logging, and MUT Logging (tests obviously)

This is a 2003 USDM Rom.. Notice anything unusual?

Not even with the full installer for .77 eh? I don't have Vista installed on anything to try it.

The funny part is there's nothing really unusual about this program, only that it uses the older VB6 runtime stuff that is included as part of the installer. I wonder if you have to set a compatibility mode or something.

I am not sure what you are referring to as far as the .77 full installer, I just downloaded from the link on your site and ran the install.

Yep thats it.. I updated the link recently with that newer version.. I'll have to get a copy of Vista and see why it won't work.

Check engine light isn't set?

EDIT: oh and why is anything listed as 'ready'? 0 voltages so be um, not ready.

Ahh, you haven't looked at the USDM Status monitors for OBD-II readiness testing I guess.. The Fuel Evap and EGR tests are disabled as are the CEL codes.

the CEL light is indeed on, however its not throwing codes for any of the tests that were disabled. I didn't indicate this, but in the other screens only the front sensor is listed.

The only CEL codes that actually are thrown are the three MAF codes, the MDP sensor code, and a few others.

The tests that aren't complete require a drive cycle so I won't be able to verify those complete sucessfully until I drive with it. The only one that won't complete at the moment is the Catalyst as I'm fairly certain the rear O2 sensor contributes some information (which is now disabled) and we haven't found any flags to disable it yet.

Ok Jack I finally got it to work with Vista. When I went thru the install this time it gave me the option that stated, "the files on your computer are newer than the ones you are installing, do you wish to replace?" The first time I said no, this time I said yes and replaced them with the older files and it worked. Maybe it is just my computer who knows, but least it works now.

Thats great news.. The only thing that concerns me slightly is that it was necessary to use older files, as these silly files should be backward compatible and shouldn't have been necessary to do that.

Keep me posted, especially if you discover something else that should have worked, suddenly doesn't any longer.

Yea I would think so also, but maybe those newer files are not compatible with the old VB as you stated.
