i have the rear o2 sensor still on the car. i have no cat. i use a perrin o2 simulator and i through no codes. i should then still pass emissions right???

just wanted to say that this worked like a charm. No more cel and I used a 50 ohm 10 watts resistor.......fireproof by the way due to the high temperatures....it's overkill but I know my carpets are safe.

*nod* That's my problem right now: I have this ghetto-rigged under the passenger seat for testing, and it's definitely been working fine for several months, but the exposed resistor is not my preference.

Hmm. I wonder if running the original heater circuit to the heater on my wideband (which just physically replaced the old one anyway) would provide enough draw and resistance to fulfill the ECU's needs?

At the end of the day, I'd much rather solve this in code (there's no reason we shouldn't be able to simply disable the check, rather than physically simulating a heater circuit), but I've had no time to investigate it at all. Too many projects.

Yes it will pass the OBDII emissions check, not a "sniffer in your exhaust pipe" emissions test though if your smogging up the place. There is also the physical inspection and if the guy is smart and wants to be an ***...can tell you to remove the extension and re-take the test (unlikely at most shops though).

Generally, no you can't do this. Or better yet, its not as wise to do this. Search for it on this forum or others, its been discussed enough to find out the exact reasons why.

This rear O2 CEL fix is a standalone fix independent of the ROM changes described in first post. The resistor mod can still be applied to allow removing the rear O2 sensor from the car. I don't know if it will work with an 88590013 ROM. Try adding the definitions to the 88590013.xml file, and if the "stock" values you see match what I list, then it will work. I recommend switching to the 88590015 ROM though. I don't plan on porting any of my work to the 88590014 or the 88590013 ROMs. Its easier for all the people working on disassembly to focus on only a few key ROMs.

Great! Please can you be so kind to tell how to change my 13 ROM to 15? I noticed most "fix" come out first for the 88590015 ROM........I tried search but I can't find anthying.

It make sense for everyone to adopt 8859015.xml, probably a HOW TO could help a bunch of people with the EVO 9.

mr fred are the address the same on evo 8s as i want to apply this to mine as well so i can rid of that damn CEL light

Sorry, but it wont work on an Evo 8. A different patch will be needed for each ROM. tephra is incorporating it into his v5 ROM, so if you can hang tight for a little while, that will be the easiest way to get the patch.

To convert to 88590015, you'll need to get a unmodified 88590015 ROM and copy all your modified tables over to it. You'll also need to copy your immobilizer code.
