ROM ID Flashing

ROM ID Flashing
So I have a 04 Evo RS and I'd love to do 2byte load but the MUT table is clearly at a different address and so must be the load addresses too. So I was thinking if i just had a different rom ID all this would be loads easier.
So basically it boils down to, can you flash a Rom to a different ID completely rewriting the flash? I was thinking of using either the 05 Evo 8 or the 03 Evo 8's rom for the basemap.
Please advise

Umm no? I accidentally tried this both ways and neither car would start. Unless there is a ROM that is common in between that I have not yet seen, the 03 will not work with an 05 and vice versa. But then again I have seen plenty of cars that are 05's (not evos) that use 03 parts, so without VIN and build date verification anything is possible I spose.

Many Euro, JDM, and USDM roms interchange and the car will still run, generally they are 02-04 cars, 05 USDM roms are different enough that you may have trouble, though I have heard of some success using an earlier 03 rom on an 05, but the intercooler sprayer uses pins on the ECU that may not be used, or used differently in the 05..
As long as the Immobilizer code is correct for the car your flashing, you can "try" it, and odds are it'll work.
If your referring to just changing the Internal ECU ID on the rom itself, so a new definition works, then no, that won't do anything but allow a definition that is incorrect for the rom to load, and likely corrupting your Rom image.
The safest rom to try on other cars is the 97140008 as its the earliest USDM Evo rom we've documented, it also has the most development and support at the moment short of the 2006 roms. Will it work for sure in an 05, well, I have not been able to confirm it.

I need an Evo7 Rom if anyone has one that they can read with ECUflash.
My friends we can only read and write, but cannot even click on the values to see what we're at.
A reputable tuner helped us before but the last time he looked at it his upgraded software no longer reads it
We tried to flash it with my 03 image and change the lock code but the car would not fire up.

Ooh, so you think if I flip the plugs much like DSM's when you go to DSMlink it might work with my 03 image?
What's a good way to figure out firing order? The only thing I could think of is to pull all the wires out, put plugs in it, and crank the car to see what order they fire?

Check the wiring diagram in the service manual, easiest way to tell. Its been a LONG time since I researched this, early on it was information and research done to run a ralliart Evo ECU in a USDM evo, and I recall that was where this was determined.

I remeber searching this a little bit. I think it was pin 8 and 22 were swapped. It was the fuel pump and a/c circuit. I found it on the AEM forums so I am not 100% sure it is true, but I did find it several times in a lenghty search.
