At what mileage should you tune?
I currently have 1000 miles on my 9. I was wondering if I should start tuning or wait for more miles on the odometer. I usually do 3-4 WOT logs per session and was just wondering if that is a good idea on a green engine.

I don't believe in the typical break-ins and have seen considerable gains and reliablity from the "new school" engine break-in procedures. Whatever you do, don't baby the engine. You need to take complete advantage of whats called B.M.E.P. (Break Mean Effective Pressure ). Taking it easy on the engine during break in will not produce enough B.M.E.P, which is what forces the compression rings outward against the corse, freshly honed cylinder walls. The more B.M.E.P., the harder the rings are pushed out agains the cylinder walls. The effectively seats the rings faster. You do this with short bursts of high loads, to prevent high heats associated with the compression ring scraping against the coarse hone. If you run the engine too hard for too long, it will glaze the clinder wall. If you didn't use enough load for too short of a time, it can also glaze the cylinder wall. If glazing occurs, the rings may never seat properly. This will drasitically effect oil consumption and power output.
