how-to: ECU-based direct boost control
#511
Well, I was not able to log actual boost before, load is still falling off some (due to baro?) but boost is almost flat line. keep in mine i need more fine tuning, this is 2nd pull since i added psi controlled boost. Other than the one spike at 28, its high 26's almost flat. ( goal was 26.5 psi)
Load will always drop

yes it would, if we could get them and sell them anymore. We are working with some people to try and get them made again...
So with all this airbox talk. I had totally forgot about an experiment a local did with his airbox. With great results.
On 91 oct, with a UNMODDED 100% stock factory box with K&N drop-in filter I tuned the car to 312WHP/298WTQ @24.4PSI
With the above MODDED factory box, the car with the above tune did 312WHP/308WTQ @ 25.6PSI. Notice the higher boost because the mod freed up the restriction. This also made it hit error correction before peak hp and dropped boost.
Now, after I retuned it for the modded airbox:
322WHP/310WTQ @ 25.4PSI
I was able to run 1psi more peak because of the modded box, the evo was happier overall, much less knock prone.
I would need to look back on my logs to see the Baro differences.

before with the stock box, WGDC was 100% up top. With the modded box it gained 1.5psi up top

I also want to make some sort of enclosure for my air filter setup to try and minimize the variances I get in air intake temps when I do multiple pulls in a row. I wish I wasn't using my stock ICS tank for my aky kit or I'd have plenty of room for duct work Its tight as a **** in that area.

Sounds good to me I've never even logged baro before so now I gotta do some pulls and see how my intake is actually performing. So the closer to 100 the better I've gathered.

Not to get off topic too much but I tested my baro this morning and just cruising it rests at around 97kpa and during a WOT 3rd gear pull it was 96.5kpa at the beginning and dropped to 93.1kpa @ 7500 rpm. NOt sure if this means I have some scaling issue or I just have an air flow restriction with my filter? Outside air temp was 47*F and Atm. press. was 30.04 if that makes any difference with the baro readings.

Last question and I'll put this to rest...so it will read 100% at least during cruise with a less restrictive intake filter setup? I'd imagine that 93.1kpa is fairly bad??
Also, does it use the MAP sensor readings because I have my ZT2 map sensor installed and I know the readings are slightly off currently until MrFred has time to finesse that whole deal. I wasn't sure if this was strictly MAF signal or if the MAP signal is used also. And I have scaled my MAF before...too much info is better than having not enough

103 baro to 99 at 7700
Reads 103 Baro at cruise

So would a scaled maf effect the baro readings or is it a totally seperate sensor? I assume it is since it has its own table in ECUFlash. Just dont want to chase ghosts.
