That Evo has a stock fmic. Keep in mind AirTemp is measured at the MAF, pre turbo and intercooler

I was actually curious if it would affect the baro at all.

With the above MODDED factory box, the car with the above tune did 312WHP/308WTQ @ 25.6PSI. Notice the higher boost because the mod freed up the restriction. This also made it hit error correction before peak hp and dropped boost.

Now, after I retuned it for the modded airbox:

322WHP/310WTQ @ 25.4PSI

I was able to run 1psi more peak because of the modded box, the evo was happier overall, much less knock prone.

I would need to look back on my logs to see the Baro differences.

Bryan - Just to be sure - so you have cut a hole in the side of the airbox and put in a secondary filter?

I didn't personally, a local did. But yes, cut a hole in the side that faces the ACD res and installed a small filter.

I have a question about fine tuning the WGDC. Would it be best to fill in your WGDC table accordingly to what’s reflected in the logs?

Sorry to continue going offtopic with this, but since everyone else is doing it: for a variety of reasons, I ended up putting my stock airbox (with stock filter) back on the car this weekend, and today I logged baro during a 3rd-gear pull.

At cruise, I see 98.98 kPa consistantly; by 5700 RPM, this had dropped to 91.14 kPa. I thought that was an interesting data point; it says quite a bit about that stock filter. I'm kicking myself for not logging Baro at some point with the cheap eBay/Buschur-style cone filter I had on there previously.

Code:
RPM Baro JDMMAP
2031.25 98.98 0.9776
2125 98.98 2.13842

Sounds about right, 7-8 point drop or so, where the open filters are only 3-4 point drop

Having a couple issues...

Ok I implemented "Direct Boost Control" on my car this morning, and having a couple of issues... Im sure you guys can help me out here!

I do wanna say Big Thanks to MRFRED for this patch! Makes tuning "Boost" somewhat easier, but I need a lil help!

First thing is, Im having problems tuning the AFR w/ out load point to reference... I have tried a map tracer (not evoscans) to follow the curve, but the curve is/was way off from my original boost curve w/ the load based set up. Tried to follow that curve, didnt work... I referenced 1 of my old logs (load based set up) and tried to follow that curve, but to no avail... I can NOT pinpoint my AFR, to make the necessary adjustments...

Also, @ peak boost, Im not seeing what I have in my map. I figured 24.6 would be a good starting point since I was running a lil higher boost to begin w/. But Im only seeing 23 ish. Im not sure if this is cause of the AFR being way rich, or what the deal is... I have tried increasing WGDC up tp 6%, and no more boost! I even tried adding almost 2 points to the "Boost Adder" from 14.3, to 16.0, since I was trying for 25-26psi anyway, but same...
edit: Took a break... I need to work on the baseline boost tables.

Enclosed is my last log and the log following the map tracer... I thought I made the curve look like this"
2500 @ 13.0, 3000 @ 12.5, from 3500 to 6500 @ 11.3, and from 7000+ @ 11.0 Like I said I tried to set it up like this following both the map tracer, and the boost curve from an older log (load based control) and same!

Im gonna start another thread on this, hoping some1 will see/respond...
I just thought of an important peice of info... I rescaled my "Stock" injectors from 513 to 472.
@ 513 my LOW was @ 4.8072 / MID was 3.2384 / HIGH was .1008, and the oxygen feed back sensor was all over the place.

Set scaling to 472 and LOW was .1008 / MID was .1008 / and HIGH was .1008 and oxygen feed back sensor was all over the place. Your suppsed to shoot for closest to "0" correct? If this is right, than maybe all of those w/ "stock injectors" should try this! I have only seen this on 1 other persons car, but then again he understands this a lil better... I dont think this has anything to do w/ why I am unable to correct my AFR, but what do I know??? I should also mention, I did NOT mess w/ the latencies...

TIA

Phil

OK now Im getting pissed... I have tried to upload these damn logs from every possible location, including the directory location and it still wont show it... WTF??? I dont know where all of these other locations are (when trying to open the logs).. Is there another way of uploading these logs, besides multiple SS's? I have uploaded logs before, (u wouldnt know it) lol but I dont know what Im doing wrong here... they are saved as csv files, and sent into zip files...

Mrfred, just wondering if you ever had a chance to look at the 96420011 rom for ECU controlled boost support. I know you have been working on some other kick *** stuff so i hope i am not pestering.

Sorry, I haven't been working on that item. Keep reminding me.

Ok, so I spent a few hours this weekend on a new rom w/ "direct boost control" dialing in 3rd gear (to start). and have come up w/ a couple more qustions...

1. I noticed on other peoples maps that have been posted, the WGDC is substanstially lower than w/ the stock BCS... But both the roms I have been working on (load/psi based) have had much higher WGDC. Well I decided I was gonna start from scratch and work my way up to desired boost levels... I basically set up the WGDC @ 100% @ 1000-2500, 75% @ 2750 and straight 50% till 6000, I left the rest of the map alone. Well this net me 14psi until 6000... So I started working my way up... Ended up w/ 100% till 2500, 85% @ 2750, and 80% till 4500, then tapering a bit. Im hitting desired boost perfectly. w/in -.5 to -.009, but hitting boost way late!!! 3750 +...

so my first question is why do I need to run soo much WGDC to achieve the similar boost levels that most are seeing w/ lower WGDC?

2. So I have my psi based rom set up for (3rd) on point, and Im hitting full boost @ 3750 +??? WTF??? w/ my load based rom, Im hitting same boost level @ 3406...

On another note this patch makes tuning boost much easier, I just wish I could figure out why Im hitting full boost so late...

i cannot get bec and wgdc change to log.they both stay at 0 for wgdc change and -3.081 for boost error correction.

so i dont think its changing anything...my wgdc looks spot on with my wgdc map....i can't figure it out
