PATCH: NLTS + Valet + KnockCEL

instead of starting a new thread i decided to bump this one. today is the first time i tried the nlts and the first 3 shifts my car revs up to 7700 and then im thinking man this cant be right. so i decided that i would try it again but this time it worked right and so about 5 minutes later when i got to a stop sign i thought i would try nlts from 1-3 gear but this time i make it through 1st gear and im going into 2nd and all the sudden the cel was flashing for knock for a few seconds and the car would not continue at wot and it felt like i hit maybe boost cut which was really odd and i had to let of the gas and then give it gas again to keep the car going. im not sure what was up with that this morning and i was hoping maybe somebody could tell me. ive got the rpm drop set to 700

Well I went to the track in Roswell, 3600ft. Fri night, I know its drag racing but were talking about NLTS here. The conditions were horrible and I am embarrased to post my times, but I tuned out all my knock bewteen shift using NLTS, as well as fine tuned my race gas map. But here goes, we had a 20-25 mph headwind and all the locals that run regurlarly here were down 5-6 mph, as was I. My best ets of the night were all 12.80, whether using nlts or not, but my 60ft were 2.0 avg, best of 1.92, I should have lowered my two step. The two runs w/ NLTS off were trapping 109.8ish, avg NLTS on was 110.8 and best MPH was 112.8. This is horrible for my car but this was my learning experience as to the weather. The wind would not stop. Bottom line, my NLTS times trapped consistantly higher and I held at least 10.0 psi bewteen shifts, but as much as 17.0 psi, depending on my shift speed, etc. So I will say its an improvement over normal shifting. I have done 12.0 at this track with no wind, cooler weather, and trapped consistant 115-116 here. But the conditions were what they were. I logged each run as well. And my hp/from airflow was very very consistant whether using the NLTS or not. Hope everyone else averages faster as well.

aryder,
It sounds like you just had your foot slightly on the clutch for the next gear, which kept NLTS enabled. So, you were basically bouncing off the NLTS limiter.
I would recommend setting the drop to a larger number and make sure that when you shift, completely remove your foot from the clutch pedal. Not even resting on it.

I had the knock, its caused by hitting unused load cells with a drastic timing jump, Mine were around 140-160 load, 5800-6000 rpm, and some spots 21 degrees timing, I dropped all four blocks in that area to 15-16 degrees and tuned out all the knock between shifts, look at your logs, it will go from 15-16 degrees timing to 21-24 depending on the cells it hits at the drop point, very east to tune out if you just look at the logs.
All you need to do is log a NLTS pass then open the log in Excell. Note the knock inflicted load cells and timing shift of those cells. Smooth the timing and the knock will be gone.

I have run high elevens and very very consistant low 12's but there was no track prep at all, I came out literally sideways on some runs. A normal bad 60' for me is 1.8, Friday my best was 1.92. It was horrible, I just wanted to post some time using NLTS and not using NLTS as I said I would in the earlier.

I went to the track twice this weekend.... The 1-2 shift freaking owns... but my clutch and trans have about had it (70k miles stock drivetrain + exedy twin) so I couldn't push it as much as I would like to.
I've removed a lot of weight from the car too so I don't really have a good comparison I will soon if I can get my rebuild done before the tracks close.

has anyone else experienced when driving in the valet mode the car will take itself out of that mode after you drive around for a short time and then a few moments later the car shuts off and then when you turn it back on valet mode is off?

thats a new one... I am aware that using NLTS while in valet mode will probably turn valet off - but I highly doubt any one would have found that out hahah
how long do you need to drive around for valet to turn off? can you reproduce the error?

I wanted to add a led to flash with the CEL because I currently have the dual gauge pod on the steering column so I can't see the CEL. I was reading your other thread of when the CEL on with Knock and someone said that the led has to have 12v and be grounded to pin 36 on the ECU. Is this correct? I wanted to make sure before I went out and installed it. Thanks
