i wouldn't....

generally its ok to goto a close numbered ROM ie

94170014 to 94170015
or 88580013 to 88580014

But I wouldn't go 94170008 to 93560005 or viceversa...

yep 2 byte works fine,
also as this is a JDM rom it has no rear 02 sensor, or any sort of evap or fuel purge systems installed,
I will email anybody who wants it a copy with the 2 byte load installed its 106kb zipped so I cant post it up here,

Please post it (93660005 with your xml) on the aktivematrix - modified Roms section - not to confuse this tephra's thread. I will put it instead of mine 96530006 and see how it behaves

HMMMMMMM been thinking about this for a while and maybe Tephra or someone who has been through the rom code could answer,
the way I see it, mitsubishi developed the evo 7 and 8 ecu with the same Hitachi sh processor, now surely the ecu for all the 7 and 8, 4 plug's are identical???
I have been through the wiring diagrams for the 7 and 8 and apart from the USDM the wiring is identical for both models the USDM has a few more outputs for emissions related stuff and a Map sensor but nothing major in the difference,
but all the EDM and JDM wiring diagrams are pretty much identical for the 4 plug models, so this means that the roms are pretty much identical???
I mean the core programming has to be the same as the ecu is the same and so is the wiring, so why are there so many different roms floating around,
it must be changes to things like different maps for different markets and maybe a few minor changes to other ecu subsystems or an improvement to the code or some things are in a different place in the rom but nothing major it still works the same way, so why are they not interchangeable or is it a bad idea to swap them around ???

It wouldn't surprise me if the internal id codes were nothing more than a batch number.

I.e week 2 - week 5 94170008

week 6 - week 9 93560005

etc etc

I'm not quite sure I understand the EcuFlash obtained ID as well.

Interestingly, my ROM ID, first recognized as 96420008 with v1.29 and earlier but now is 96420007 with newer versions, is strikingly similar to the lable on the ECU itself which reads:
MN191022
E6T3488XXX
46020008

Anyone know where the ID's came from?

Is it Mitsubishi or Colby manufactured (the ID not the code)?
