Subaru EcuFlash Resources?

Maybe I'm just spoiled by what great support EvoM has given Evo owners with EcuFlash help, but i'm not able to find a helpful forum for Subaru (mainly WRX/STi) tuning.

I've seen what enginuity.org and openecu.org have to say, and NASIOC forums have 0 mention of EcuFlash... anyone know of a good site?

Most Enginuity info will translate directly to ECUFlash ... they are basically the same application. I'm in the same boat though ... I haven't found much on the Subaru ECU and it seems to have many more defined options than the Evo ECU.

Hey whats up touringbubble. Yeah the system sounds more complicated. I've never even been inside of a suby ECU.

also try osecuroms.com or .org. if you sign up, you can go into the roms directory. theres plenty of good basemaps and knowledge.

Subies are easier since they add timing on their own. Do the fuel and up the boost and you're all done.

Or something like that...

That is pretty much it. You have to remember the accessport came out very early on the subies so that was taken as the mainstream way to tune. My roommate is a popular suby tuner he is very jealous of the ECU support the evo has since they cant get most of our ecu mods without a UTEC.

Have they had any luck with making a 2-step/launch control for the Scoobies yet? I knew that Hydra was the only way you could set launch control before.

Dagger, I'm really trying to hook up my boy's STI. He is jealous of all the options we have with the Evo ECU.

Tell him his only option is to smart up and buy an evo.

He didnt want to buy the same car as me. There is nothing wrong with the STI, I just wish it had a bigger open source following.

Uhhh, have you looked at their evo base maps man, no way in hell I would run one of those evo maps... WAY too much timing everywhere.

This could be because the sti takes way more timing than the evo so he is just not familiar enough with the evo's timing requirements.

The scobbypedia article is good, thats what I have been referring to when flashing wrx and sti's.

Like J.B. mentioned, they do add timing on there own to an extent, they have a base timing map and adder map that represents the max amount of timing that the ecu can add in the absence of knock. I normally derive the base map setting by looking at the shape of the power curve on the dyno, any additional timing I add to the base map, I remove from the adder map and give the car a few pulls while logging to see if it is still adding timing and if so how much, this will give you an idea of what the knock detection routine is seeing. I don't go crazy with the timing on the subbies, mostly fuel and boost.
