Skunk2 manifold aka no egr provision . I didn't get this lurch until I bumped my cruise timing to 40+ and transitioned the off idle stuff. 1500-2000 is the heavy lurching

I'm curious how timing would have any effect on engine braking, when in that condition the fueling should be shut off anyway..?

hey guys
this is my yet unfinished map. just wanted to hear your suggestions about cruise area. I'm coasting in city traffic at 2000-2300 rpm with no problem on my 2.3 and load howers between 20-40. haven't logged some highway cruising yet
should I bump up that area and by how much ? seems too low compared to what people run over here

and also would like to hear about EGR thing too https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/10850444-post11.html

You are right but fuel isn't cut in some situations like at part throttle, or before the fuel cut delay happens. We can still tune engine braking transition from accel to decel (iscv/timing/fuel).

I'm not real familiar with tuning built engines but I'd think you'd be able to get away with a little more timing in the 40 and 60 load columns and then taper from there.

No knock up top but I've been fighting spool knock at 2800-3000 in 1st and 2nd gear

-FP green
-Hks272
-3" TBE
-MAP 02 dump
-ETS fmic
peak 300 taper to 285/ 11.7 tapering to 11.3

Your spool knock is most likely not your spool timing being agressive. Spool AFR maybe? Or sometimes a sound that comes from outside the engine (exhaust/mounts/etc) (Nice map BTW)

I've dropped timing in those load ranges and changed spool afr all the way from 13.0 to 11.5 with no avail. I've also been all over the engine bay found nothing, I will say 1st and 2nd gear seem a little noisy. I logged it again today and was getting up to 26 counts religiously between 3000-3500 and 65-120 loads, I also logged knock volts and it was jumping from .5 to almost 2.0 when its picking it up!?!?!It's just frustrating seeing the mil violently flash after leaving each stop sign. I'm still new to evos and wanted to make sure the timing looked acceptable between those load ranges?

26 is pretty darn high... Which fuel are you using? Your timing map is far from too agressive. Spool AFR seems right as you said.
Make sure engine mounts are healthy.
Make sure your downpipe/exhaust isnt hitting something.
Make sure your knock sensor is torqued right if you play with it.

Do you still have the balance shaft in your engine ?

after reading for hours its seems that knock in the 3k rpm range is very common, I guess I'll just have to dumb the sensor down a bit. on a side note moving timing around in the spool areas had virtually no effect on power, just boost.

Yeah, I setup my knock sensor to ignore knock below 120 load IIRC at 3000 RPM,
eliminating it hearing the noise caused by engine/exhaust movement (transition from no to full acceleration)
