Let's see your fully tuned timing maps
#2537
I came from tuning Black Box DSM's and finally got an Evo. I have phantom knock in the low rpm/low load (2600-3500) that i need to dial out, but I'm relatively happy with this tune. I have tried pulling timing, as much as 3* in that area but still have the knock, I'm going to investigate my downpipe now. Stock 8 turbo 21 psi, LICP, BC 272's. I think i can get away with ramping up the timing a bit around 160+, but i want to be relatively conservative. Let me know what you think
EDIT: Here is a log from this morning (my wb02 currently is no set up for logging
)

Pull a degree of timing from 130-210 load areas in the 2750-3500 zone, smoothen out the transition of timing in surrounding areas.
Your AFR at 10psi is fine, richen up the AFR and aim to be hitting 11.5 by 3.5k and ramp it down smoothly from 10psi/12.1 to peak boost 21psi/11.5. That will make it come on a little harder and punchier than leaning it out.
I would add a degree at 4500 to 6, another at 5000 to 7 and try to have a smooth ramp up in timing.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I've scaled my injectors one tick up since that log as I am ***** footing around the trims trying to get it dead nuts on (PTE1200s, they are a bit finicky it seems). So the AFR is going to be a small margin leaner already. I'll take another log later on and see where we are at with another 3rd gear pull.
Edit: Yeah it didn't like that much. Power fell flat entirely, really odd feeling. I've driven Corollas that felt better. Not sure how that happened. Got a good amount of knock at mid load somehow too.
I didn't bother to take a log (wasn't planning on driving at that moment but had to go do something), I've just reverted to previous for right now until I can dig into it some more.

I just started tuning the Evo. I wanted to improve and correct the factory map, to use it as a baseline before installing bolt-ons, and a boost controller. This is a bone stock 9 on 91oct. , i believe peak load is 230 by 3300rpm , and tapers to around 190 by 7000rpm. Can you guys critique what i have so far?

Have you checked it with the graph? That will also give you a good idea of places where you might have missed sharp transitions, etc.
At first glance though, it looks decent. Might try smoothing out that 120 to 140 load transition a bit as it's pretty steep as it is now.

yea, ive logged it a bunch of times. I'm trying to be conservative on the timing since its on 91oct. Waiting to throw it on the dyno soon.
thanks for the suggestion on the steep transition. I tried making it smoother. here it is
also gave it a bit more fuel up top because it had a few knock counts at 6000rpm+
