couple of questions, plz:
1- when u say 25 psi, is that peak? what is your boost/load at 6000, 6500, 7000, and 7500 rpm??
2- afr's??
3- noticed a couple of maps here where there is an "island" of low timing, like in the map above 5500 & 6000 rpm, loads 140 160 180 all had low timing values
(10*). why is that done???
appreciate your feedback, thx

2) AFR is 12.5 during spool, 11.7 @ 3500, 11.5 until 6000, then 11.0. Straight 93 Shell
3) 10* is for stationary limit boost increase... I can get 15psi with no knock, but lower than 10* and it knocks like a *****

Lower timing in the stationary limit area results in a later spark and more heat/pressure in the exhaust gas, therefore it's more efficient in spooling the turbo.
Reduce timing for more boost and increase for less (to a point). I can run 14 to 15 psi with no knock, but it just spins off the line. 9 or 10 psi is much easier to manage and usually makes for better 60' times.

that's very nice, i'll try it tonight
@shamelessCookie: what about boost at 6000, 6500, 7000 and 7500 rpm??
what boost are you running at these rpms??? wt about load (2-byte load)???
from the boost you are running, i guess your load should be 270 all the way to 5500, then go down depending on the boost you are running @6k and up...
plz let me know..
thx

Boost follows the same pattern... 25 until 5500RPM, then 23.5 @ 6000, 22 @ 6500, 20.5 @ 7000

I also find it beneficial to log under desired conditions, then review (trace) the mapping and vary my loads/rpms based on where a 'value' change would be most beneficial. That's why even using load axis and rpm axis may not need to be the same from car to car. Fine tuning is sometimes no more than a single timing change at a 'given' rpm/load cell point.

This is what i am doing for a map now. It has been about 1 year since the last time i have had time to look at the map and read what has been going on with tuning on the EVO.
I have been running around 20lbs with tapper to about 17 at redline with a mbc. (might have a boost leak)
with this map i have just a drop in K&N and a JUNB.L cat back. I always run 93 oct.
This weekend i am going to be doing a 3"down pipe with cat delete and PPI lower intercooler pipe.
I am wondering what suggestions you guys have for the advance and boost?
When does the stock fuel pump run out?

after you get the 3" piping, good rule of thumb to start is retard timing 1 degree for every 2psi increase. And not just the loads you were hitting with before, i.e. 140-230. so decrease those as well
