Yeah I'm not increasing anything yet, this is simply a smoothing mission. Already the car was noticeably faster and smoother, didn't feel like it was falling on it's face, and pulled about 10 whp more in vd over the old crap.

Amazing what using some sense when tuning can do lol

Is there any proper method regarding how timing should progress when looking angle like this --> \ across the map? i re read this whole thread and have seen it both increasing and decreasing.

if this version smoothes out a little more than the last im gonna stick with it and start dialing in the fuel. then i will most likely turn the boost up as id like to hit 300wtq, and im in the mid to high 280's right now. I feel like im getting it...but will probably feel destroyed when i try to play with fuel LOL.

Could still be a bit smoother but it doesn't look bad at all. You've got a pretty big drop in timing at spool up, but most Evos I see have something similar anyway. You could still give smoothing that area a bit more a shot, in my case most of my knock (suspected to be false, but that's another story) starts at spool up, so I made sure to get that area as smooth as possible.

Fuel is actually quite easy to dial in; if it's lean, add fuel. If it's rich, subtract fuel. Can't get much easier than that

oh and if you plan on turning up the boost, supposing your fuel and timing are already decent (no need to be dead on perfect), then turn up the boost now to what you want to run, as after that you'll have to re-tune at least part of your fuel anyway.

yeah its definitely still a work in progress. I have not touched anything left of 140 load. It just really needed help before it drove me nuts.

i need to go to the fuel tables next with a working wideband. my knock is all midrange, and im almost positive its because the damn thing is so rich (although max 3 count) and sometimes a random spike when i lift to end a log. just like the timing maps, the fuel maps seem to have just been randomly changed with no plan.

what load values do you consider spool up? 80-120ish at 3000-4000ish rpm based on my logs it looks like. guess i need to read some more on spool up and timing.

80-280 is my spool range. In my train of thought its where decreasing timing is taking place at a wot pull... spool is until u reach your Target boost

so im thinking my initial plan of attack will be to up the timing in the 100-140 load columns to blend in better, and then target 12ish afr in there. that may cure my need for torque?

why do i feel like this is going to lead to me wanting more mods lol

On your car I'd consider ~80-200 as spoolup.

Your initial plan of attack sounds good to me, just try to keep everything smooth whenever possible

Here is my 22 PSI tuned on 91. This map started as the stock map and was just adjusted from there. Stock turbo, with most normal supporting mods, stock block, stock top end with 272's. Oh, also, the low load to mid load is almost the same as stock, compare if you need to. The top end has some timing taken out, and the entire map has been smoothed. Zero Knock, AFR's are on inlcuding fuel lean spool. Fully tuned Tephra 94170715, best rom out there.

Ok, well I couldn't get the image to work right, so looky here: -> http://www.raceghost.me/tuning/21psi.html Should open as a page and display the Timing, AFR, Boost, and Wastegate.

I bought the car 3 years ago and got a Tactrix cable last month. Pulled the rom out of my car and I see this map.

Don't know if it's good or bad. I've looked through this thread and I've see that 38 seems to be the highest number... Well... I'm at 39.... I didn't tune the car myself. Either the previous owner or some local shop gave him something, IDK. I'm new to this whole tuning game and I pretty much just started. I want to do some logging but my AFR gauge is broke so it might be a while until I get a new one.

My mods are:
Stock 8 turbo at 25psi max, 3" TBE w/ resonator, some kind of aggressive cams w/ the intake side being degreed back a few and exhaust left centered, 3.5" XS Power FMIC, hard piping intake with Amsoil cone filter, possible ported exhaust manifold. Might be more but this is all I can find about the car. Bought it mostly like this minus the Amsoil filter.

Oh, and is it normal/safe to have the same exact map on the low octane map? Because it's pretty much the same as the high octane.

rarely do evos ever take that much timing like that at lower rpm.. id do a compression test on that car.

duplicating the low octane map with the high just means the cars being forced the timing.. another words even if 9* is to much the ecu switches to low oct map after knock and still gives the car 9*.. pretty bad tune.

Looks like a whole lot of timing across the whole map to me, possibly too much? i hope you're on 93 octane.

I'm running 93 and I'll do a compression test tomorrow. Maybe even start my own thread on this to get at least some of the timing right.

so i upped my boost a tad, so i spike 24ish and taper off (gauge reads almost 25 sometimes, but evoscan rarely shows that), and loaded the map in post #857. got these logs:

i NEVER though the car would feel so different. VD shows a ridiculously fat torque curve, its awesome. i sure had a smile on my face today.

i still have not touched any fuel yet either, free air'd my lc1 today so im pretty sure the readings in the log are right (although its throwing a code 8 now which i guess means i need a new sensor)
