Anybody else curious. If one or two more says yes, I'll go ahead and start it.

I'm running 26psi tapering to 24psi, but my timing at 7000rpm is only 9 degrees. Is it best to taper the boost more and run more timing up top?

It depends on the setup. On a stock turbo you're probably starting to run out of the efficeincy range of the turbo at 24psi@7000 and you're basically just blowing hot air at that point. In that case the answer would be yes- it would be better to run less boost and more timing. You really have to just try it both ways and see which one is making more power for you though. Some engines/setups like more boost while others like more timing. However, if I had to guess, if you're having trouble running more than 9* at 7K then it's probably because the turbo is being run out if it's efficiency range. FWIW, I ran a stock 8 turbo and found that I got better results with about 22psi and 12-14* of timing @7000. However, I know a lot of people are able to run even more timing than I was.

Thanks, will take the car out now for a play and let it taper abit more. Check the log and then add some more timing.

Only about 4.

Dropped the gain down to minimum on my boost controller and now tapers to 23psi.

Serious knock , your load looks high for that turbo.

GregM,

the load's that you're hitting are what I hit with my 20g on e85...I'd look for the source of your high loads...IMO you should not be that high...

Check for boost leaks...could be the culprit.

I just did a boost leak test and I can hear air near the turbo, dammed if I can feel any leaks around there thou. About the only place I can't check is the back of the intercooler..............

May be a hose has a slit...bad gasket from your j-pipe...or the coupler on the j-pipe is leaking.

It will have to wait till next weekend, but I may pull everything apart and check everything. I've been getting high load like that since I went to the bigger turbo. My car normally has a TD04 on it, not an 05.

if you dont have any boost leaks you may want to check your MAF scalings. the MAF is what determines the load, and if your scalings are low, it will read a higher load

My car is not an Evo, so my load maybe different. My MAF is smaller then an Evo one. I had an Evo one on my car a few weeks ago and the Injector Scaling was different even after copying an Evo's MAF settings, so theres abit more going on there. I'll try and get some info from some other Airtrek owners. If everyone can look past the load and give me some feedback on the rest of my setup I'd appreciate it.

Try adding 3* across from 200-340 load from 7000-11000rpm and smooth from there.
