2.3L ECUFlash Tune?
Hi
I have been searching through the Forum to try and figure out how to do a base tune for a 2.3L Strocker 4G63 EVO IX set-up... (My turbo options are FP Green or GT3076 .78 TS) will most probably install the Green first and put on the 3076 later in the year once I sort out manifolds for it etc...
But there doesn't seem to be much info or any DIY advice for this...
Seems like the best option is to get a basemap from a Tuner and work from there?
Any recommendations on which tuner to use and how much it will cost for a mail-flash?
thanks
Sal

You can drive a 2.3 setup on a 2.0 map as long as the intake system around the MAF hasn't changed. Starting, cruise and idle should all be about right. On boost the ignition timing will be retarded compared to the same boost on the same turbo as the 2.0 because the engine load is higher (because there is more airflow). You can correct this in the usual way and then smooth in your changes. Fuelling at intermediate load may also be a bit rich, get the trims in closed loop right and build up boost very gradually checking AFR as you go along whilst building up. As AFR is corrected on safe ignition timing you can gradually increase the boost. Once AFR and boost are ideal, then you can hopefully advance from your conservative starting map. Then go back and make any fine tune adjustments to AFR etc. It goes without saying that in the early hours of a new engine you are also checking fluid levels fanatically and making sure nothing is falling off your ride
If you change the injectors, intake and turbo all at the same time as the engine capacity it is more involved. However, I would aim to start up a new engine knowing your injectors and intake calibration from the previous engine. That way you can go drive it and get the rings bedded in nicely without worrying about grossly incorrect AFR and glazed bores etc.

Thanks JC!
Cool - I was planning on putting in PTE 780cc injectors in, pretty confident I can get them scaled right the first time... If they not gona be big enough for 550HP (crank) then I will have to go 880's but I'm worried about the mapping on these.
My original ideas was that by manipulating a global variable for fuel like the injector scaling I might get it mapped for the 2.3L a bit easier...
But will try and keep everything else as stock as possible and keep monitoring AFR's on my Zeitronix...

Let me try and finalise my hardware changes once I have all the bits and pieces...

Almost ready to load this base map, a few changes I realised I needed to make:
1. Tone down the Mivec map
2. Richen up the Fuel Maps a bit
One thing I'm not sure about - is if I need to re-scale the load axis for a 2.3L or is 300 high enough...
thanks

Well to be on the safe side I've rescalled up to 350%...
no big deal, I've decided to build my 2.3 into another block later in the year - so I'm jus going with the Twin Scroll GT3076R with a .78 on the Stock block for now...
