From everything I have read, I have no clue about the AEM. The beauty or trick of all of this is to get it to work with OEM parts. On the SAS ECU anti lag assembly thread there is much more info, but that relates to the ECU side of this whole thing.

As far as the parts, if you are using the AEM ECU, you could run a legitimate anti-lag, much more aggresive than what I am installing.

Really though the whole thing is quite simple. The SAS solenoid opens the SAS valve, which will allow air to be dumped directly into the manifold from the upper IC pipe. The trick is getting that SAS valve to open, and since any vacuum outlet at the top of the intake manifold will work...you could electronically or manually set something up. But that is uncharted territory...

anyways...got the stud fixed, install continues tonight.
Will take pics.

Wow, you guys are really going through this. Props to you, Maikumaru, for actually installing the hardware. Looking forward to hearing about your ordeals and solutions to get it working.

Thanks Silex.

Actually I am missing one piece...the pipe from Upper IC pipe to SAS valve...but shouldnt be too big of a road block.

Ill have a better update tomorrow on the actual install and fitment.

Everything is ready to go.

Keeping fingers crossed that the ECU portion will work---> eeeek

Can you link to the ecu portion that needs to be added to work? I take it you need to use a free pin on the ecu to connect the solenoid to.

well I am actually debating with one of my buddies right now.

Since I am using MBC the plan is to splice into the Wastegate solenoid and re route the harness and ECU pin to the SAS pin (then work with the ECU accordingly).

any thoughts?

going with Barry Cs advice on post 14....

that looks like it will work. I need to go back and read the other thread. Splicing into the WG harness is not an option for me since I am using ecu based boost. I'm at the point that I can start installing the parts I have. My car is down since I melted a piston.

Maikumaru how much do you think the canister plays a part? I'm ok with installing the parts and it not working. However if we can get it to work that would be awesome.

I am just going off of Barry C s advice from post 14.
Since I am using MBC the wastegate solenoid is not being used.
SAS pin I belive is 4 so I will do one of three ways.
Move wastegate pin to SAS pin (splice into wiring)
Order a pin, and place into SAS slot and wire directly from SAS solenoid.
I am drawing a blank on the third one...lol long night

well to be honest I dont know...but I have been thinking about this and might have an answer. The extra stored air in the canister, when released should keep that SAS valve open longer. If it is directly hooked up (canister bypass), I am not sure if the effects will be long enough...but that is just my thoughts I really have no clue.

Sorry for 3 posts at once but it has been a long night.

Well I wish I could say that everything is installed and ready to go but I have run into a problem.

those of you with USDM evo 9s will have this problem.

EXHAUST MIVEC CAM POSITION SENSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot fit the piping to the manifold. The exhaust cam sensor is in the way.
I did a quick check on my friends evo 8...the whole thing would bolt up easy.

million dollar question.
I have evo 7 piping...obviously dosnt fit...
Is the 9 piping different?
does UK and JDM evos have the exhaust mivec cam position sensor?

are the cam sensors interchangable? could I use the intake cam position sensor on the exhaust side.
removing exhaust position cam sensor? doable? will the engine work?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I will post pics tomorrow.

nevermind about the above...I guess I was tired last night...
tried fitting it before work...just to see if I was insane...

and what do you know the pipe will bolt up...

and looking at the install on the SAS install sheet...it bolts up directly above cam position sensor and below the vacuum tubing for BOV.

on a side note...if anyone wanted to make some serious anti lag check out how big the valve is...holy crap. It could move a lot of air.

I want that piping!! lol

The more I handle this the more ideas I get...

that stock valve could help create some serious anti lag...turbo destroying goodness...lol
