First i've read about that.

Got anymore info ??

Addition of ALTMAP, although it appears not many maps have been tested and compatibility testing has halted for V4 sinec V5 should be out soon. So I guess you were right

I know about the map switching as I have V5.

I meant I hadn't heard about map1 being cold start and all edits should be done to map 2

Oooops. also found out Map 3 is used in car "limp mode". General concensus is to set all 3 high maps to the same values for more predictable timing. Info based on these threads:

Am I correct in thinking that only the IX has 3 maps ?

On my JDM / EDM evo7 rom there is only 1 map, and 1 alt map.

so any timing maps for ALS??
I would be curious to see how would an ALS timing map off a motec ecu look like..

I think at higher rpm's I should pull less timing then lower rpm's, if some1 can post a timing done by an experimented tuner it would help me learn alot

thx

I did some testing with more fuel in those areas and it actually killed the effect, at least from what I heard. There is a chance it could be tossing flames with no sound ... I've heard some people say that happens. I prefer the loud, classic "bang bang" sound, and I get that with a relatively stock fuel map in that area. It drops to about 13.2 before crossing back to closed loop and that is where the fun is.

If you notice, I did exactly that in the map I posted because it makes sense to me as well. The engine spins faster and you don't have to fire as late at higher RPM.

But, as I mentioned, timing only registers to -10º and I'm sure that those disassemblers "in the know" could probably verify that timing is indeed truncated at -10 and it's all in my head.

Correct. It's speculated that the 9's have 3 maps due to MIVEC which uses some interpolation factor that is unknown to us. Hence why we copy timing maps across all 3 maps.

Silex, the true purpose of the 3 maps is not "really" known since we didnt have input from the Mitsu techs. That is what they are believed to be... maybe. Used to be we would tune the 3 maps differently and someone noticed that it wasnt only running in #2 during normal operating conditions which prompted us to start making them all the same again. At least that's my take on it.

When it was determined that some form of interpolation was happening but it wasnt really needed (alot of us had set them all the same anyway), Tephra re-wrote it and dropped 2(four technically) of them.
