low load knock

low load knock
anyone got an opinion on this?
...just going through a 10 min log I did the other night and noticed on quite a few occasions when cruising that between 2500-3000rpm I'm getting knock counts of up to 4 - load about 70-80, little throttle.
yet on my wot runs I only got 1 knock count of 1.
surely this isn't det?
I'm guessing its a vibration or something.....
I'm not really worried because soon as I hoof the car the knock counts are fine.
cheers
Mark.

I've been reading about and messing with this area of the map allot lately. What I think you are experiencing is that the ECU is adding timing in that area for better fuel economy till it sees knock. Then it systematically lowers it till just under knock.
You can see what I am talking about if you open up the second map labeled "Boost enhancement Adv/Ret Map 2" in the timing area. This is of course if you have an VIII can't be sure about the 9s.
If you are logging timing you will see the actual in this area is your high timing map plus the number in the Boost enhancement map (when not knocking). Once knock starts if pulls back.
I do not think it is a need for concern the only way to stop it is to zero out the boost enhancement map, but then your mpg will suffer.
