Bringing this thread back from the dead, apparently bmotorsports no longer carries the gm iat sensor...I just need to confirm that this sensor works the same as the gm...I'm just about hitting the order button, thanks.

I would imagine this - Ballenger Motorsports new GM IAT sensor - would work as well. Just doesn't include the pigtail.

Sorry to have to bring this thread back from the dead...I've been going through the threads and really haven't found anything conclusive...I had posted this in the water/alcohol section but got no response...
here's the question I posted:
"for those running the stock uicp with stock bov configuration, when you switched to SD, have you encountered any problems placing the iat sensor between your meth nozzle and the bov? I ask this because I'm about to get my sensor installed but the space to work with is very limited...my meth nozzle is about 1/2" right before the rubber elbow that goes to the tb but the space between the nozzle and the bov is no more than 3-1/2"...do you think this is enough space for the iat sensor. I'm in the process of switching over the SD, what would be the effect if I placed the sensor a little further downstream like behind the bov?

You'll be fine if you placed the sensor before the BOV. The temps aren't going to be any different in different places on the UICP. As long as you're post IC, you'll be fine.

thanks for the reply...I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't affect my switch over to SD in any way since most of the threads I've read people were always referring to putting the sensor after bov/before meth
Thanks

It should be fine. But FYI, I've been spraying methanol directly onto the AIT for over a year now. The AIT came first... nearly 2 years ago with the Maft Pro / SD conversion. It went directly before the TB. Which means the meth had to go in between that and the bov...

:shrugs:

Hasn't been a problem yet. And it's within 3" and on the same side of the UICP. So it gets absolutely blasted by the meth. 882ml/min... every day.

So if you are having placement concerns... remember its a $12 sensor that you can get at any auto parts store if it sh*ts out.

Which I have already done because I had the UICP let go of the TB at 30psi and bust the sensor clean off when the pipe struck the brake booster...

It will be fine wherever you put it post IC.

Mr. Fred / et al -- Great post and lessons learned so far! The only questions I have are, what have you learned about the turbo, how are the various FMIC performing, and what are the benefits of switching to IAT and SD (hp ?)?

Evodad8 -- Did you ever post your tests of FMICs ?
