how much do you set the Low Fuel Maps from the High Fuel Map?

i know its not safe to set your Low Octane Fuel Maps same as the High Octane Fuel Map, unless some here set them both the same, but if not, how rich do you set the Low Octane Fuel Map?

also on the Timing Maps, how retard do you set the Low Timing? or is there area that you make them the same?

TIA

for fuel I just copy my High into the Low then select load 100-300/rpm 500-8000 and take of 2 full points of AFR..

I make both mine the same, but pull 2 degrees of timing on the low octane map. Keep in mind I've also verified with a wideband many, many, times that my AFR's are consistent and pretty conservative. So I choose to pull timing and leave fuel alone. YMMV though.

Well you should especially if you have an intake and rescaled load axis.

Surely if the car starts to knock / det enough to use the low octane map, then leaving it as per the stock tables will be safer than editing them, to the current tables, and just taking a small amount of timing out ?

For example, on my current high octane fuel maps the car runs mid 11's afr, and 8° timing top end.

On the low octane map, it would run around 10.0afr and -6° timing.

I just pull about 1 point of AFR in higher loads (over 200 or so) from my regular fuel map.
And i use the stock low timing map. (A bit fine tweaked but you get the point)

I do about the same ... I pull around 1 AFR and I actually use a modified version of the stock high oct map 1 for timing. It's about 4º less timing than what I run normally over most of the map and I pull an extra degree or 2 in the important areas.

Pulling 2 full AFR points isn't the best approach IMO. I get rich knock under 10:1 and pulling 2AFR would be close to that.

However, if you ever get 100% in to the low octane maps you should probably put the computer down and let someone else tune your car. Actually ... it would probably already be too late for that.

I just make them alot less. They are for safety, so I want to make sure Im rich/less timing if I overboost for some reason, or something else goes wrong. My lowoct fuel map has 8.9-8.3's and my lowoct timing map is significantly lower than the highoct map.

from 200 load + I use -5 points lower on fuel and timing.

i just left them as is...

my octane rating stays at 100% so i don't really care about them.

Any car with larger than stock injectors should have the map more or less the same. If its on the low octane maps, there is already probably damage from the timing being overly advanced (knock happy) so running it rich with low timing isnt the best thing to do.

What do you mean by this JB? I am running 1000 cc RC injectors and I left my low octane fuel and ignition maps stock.

I run 680cc injectors and the stock low fuel and timing maps.

Surely if the injectors are scaled correctly, then it's no different from having the stock injectors in there ???

This is true. That's exactly what injector scaling is for.

Remember, if the engine changes drastically, you really do need to re-visit the low octane timing map(s). A 2.3l can't take as much timing as a 2.0, so there is a chance that the stock low octane map could be even more advanced than your tuned high octane map in some places. In this case the timing would increase when the octane value dropped. That would not be good at all.

I'm just saying to be aware of them ...
