Openport 2.0 Cable, Aktivematrix is beta testing!
#19
I really wanted to post something about it since many people were getting a little disappointed when its official release dates came and went. There's really not a whole lot to talk about as we are working through driver install issues at the moment. At the least we should have the ability to do what the 1.3 cables do already, with a few new features, to begin with.
I'm not even sure if I was supposed to discuss even having a cable and will honor a request not to further discuss it if he asks. But I felt it was important to let people know that its very close.
For the owners of Vehicals already supported by the 1.3 cables, the compelling features will be the standalone logging to MiniSD card and the inline logging of a wideband device (Innovate serial chain seems to be the target) However it shouldn't stop you guys from buying a 1.3 cable if you want to do flashing/logging to a PC.

He probably didn't realize you were interested or was aware of your work. For myself, I was always pretty involved in the product so he knew I was around. Of course, my selfish reason is to make sure that we have a software logger available to support the new cable when its officially released, and also to support importing and analysing the raw log files from the SD card when that starts coming around for testing.

Aww... Well if someone can put in a good word for me that would be wonderful I wouldn't mind paying a bit + shipping either (since I do get a lot of use out of Ecuflash lol!!!)
I was just looking at some video from my last track day and was like - damn I wish I had telemetry to compare to what I was seeing...
ps - We haven't seen you in quite a while MJ!! What's been going on?

I'll pass the word along..
Although off topic, maybe its relevent.. Life kinda got in the way of the car hobby. I moved from Long Island, NY to Dallas, TX in January.. Found a job as a programmer which doesn't leave much free time. When I get home my Son, Wife, and another on the way want my attention. My Evo's been out of commission more or less since the move with several issues of which all but one or two have been sorted out. We've had a heat wave of over 100 degree temps which had prevented me from being outside working on the car often. Just a busy few months.
ANYWAY.. I'm working on reference code for a new logger that will work with the Openport 2.0 cable as its completely different in several ways than the old cable. I will hopefully have something together with very basic MUT logging shortly. Fortunately the way my new logger is written, all functionality is pluggable so new modules are just a simple download and drop in a plugin folder. This was to allow third party development of components, but coincidentally allows me to add new functionality for the openport 2.0 cable as needed without a full release. (Still working on the API and sample plugins so I haven't made anything available yet)
I will be supplying simple adhoc logger tools to Beta test users so they have something to work with though.

And a quick Openport 2.0 specific update, I have gotten successful driver installs which work. This doesn't mean the issue was solved yet, but it does mean I have one machine that I can develop and test with.
