Would trying to run the 94170015 ROM in my 2004 USDM EVO8, be a good idea (the one that is in there now is the 96420008 ROM)?
I assume if the car doesn't start - you can always re-flash the ECU again to go back to the original one. Is it just a matter of trial and error?

yes, Bink. I would suggest to try the ROM with the immobilizer defeat code first and then without to confirm it kills immobilizer...

I am lost too, Evom is full of conflicting info. I'd like to know what the best upgrade for the 2007/2008 ROM is....

I just went and looked at the ECUFlash wiki - and it says "Other than the need to adjust for some different address locations, transfer any modifications you have already made to your ROM, and especially your immobilizer code, this ROM is a plug and play swap for the 008 and 014 ROMs." (http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/94170015)

I'll give it a shot once I am done installing my clutch. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks!

So I have been exploring this "Wastegate compensation" thingy with the 94170015 and it seems that it would make sense to be a way to offset the WGDC for air temp changes...possibly?? I took a quick look at the address thats listed and its a 9 element 2D table but I have no idea how to know what the corresponding table to go along with it would be? RPM? Air Temp? Coolant Temp?I'm not that good with the finer details, lol. It may be nothing at all but it peaked my curiosity since we ran into the issue of air intake temps changing the boost levels with the same WGDC setting (gain about 1psi of boost for every 10*F of air temp increase).

EDIT:
Im new to this but it seems to reference ffff8844 which I noticed is referenced in many items with RPM scaling so I'd assume this meant the Y axis is a RPM scale and this 8844 location is the actual RPM in real-time?? I found a few RPM tables that are 9 elements but some are in the lower range only, some are the full rpm range and some are the higher range only so once again I'm stumped, lol.

Jaimie,

Are you talking about a error correction table for intake temp? I know subarus have that but it's more of a compensation table which adds or reduces WGDC depending on intake temp, much like our timing compensation table, I wonder if the Evo has one that we haven't found yet.

It would need to be by RPM and not just WGDC compensation by intake temp as during a pull the intake temps can change radically. I think it would need to be a 3D table to be really effective. Actually I guess it could just be WGDC compensation by intake temp.

Sorry my post is more a stream of thoughts than actual structure.

Any one here had succes with map switching on the 88590015 rom? I have used both MOV 5.10 and 5.8? Any suggestions. When logging the request with evoscan it shows its changung but does nothing. I have turned the boost off completely and it physicall doesnt switch the map. ?? Any suggestions?

Yeah it'd be cool to find an air temp compensation table for the ECU controlled boost. It woild only need to adjust the base WGDC table since the air temp would change theentire boost curve equally. I feel that would allow for less overall corrections to occur. I have no clue how to find that kind of stuff in the disassembly so I'm at the mercy of the diasm guru's. Since the table I was looking at seems to look at the rpm reference, I'd say its safe to say this table isn't what I was hoping for.

I have 96940011 (05 EVO) and thought about trying the 2byte RPM to see if that will get me past a clipping issue at 8000rpm or not (2byte load didn't help beyond 380kpa) and I saw another ROM has superseded mine due to space requirements but there was mention in this thread that the 2-step would be lost...is that accurate? I can't live without my 2-step
