This is going to sound silly. Is there a tephramod overview somewhere? Like what the features are and what they do?

Thanks!

John

I've had the worst time trying to get rid of some annoying tip-in knock and I'm pretty sure its from the timing jumping too drasticly from one cell to the next during a WOT pull from 3000 rpm to redline. My timing map seems fine but the ACTUAL timing is in the 36-38* area while in closed loop at the beginning of the pull even though my map is roughly at 26-30* in the low load areas at the start of the pull (80-100 load). I'm pretty sure the added timing is from the EGR advance if I recall but its really annoying to see the timing curve have to plummet so quickly when leaving closed loop. The FAA bit10 thing doesn't "advance" timing right? I never messed with the FAA bit10 thing but if this will help make my transition from CL to OL much better I will disable it.

I've tried all different timing values (more and less) and I cant seem to fully eliminate it. Is there a way to disable whatever it is thats adding more timing or a better transistion from CL to OL?

i had the same problem in my car and i got rid of it by richening the fuel map in dose areas....its's not completely gone but i only get VERY random 1 and 2 counts

I've richened them up plenty and the issue persisted. I noticed that my anti-lag igntion map (which is possibly for the EGR) that adds timing in the 1500-3500rpm (30-80 load) was scaled incorrectly. It MIGHT be my issue but I think I'd like to learn how to disable the faa bit10 also, maybe the EGR which I think is FAA bit9?

Yeah but I'm selling the car and I dont want the new owner bugging me about it so I was trying to eliminate the tip-in knock issue once and for all. Its funny how starting from a few hundred RPM later makes a world of a difference. Its gotta be a transitional problem with the ECU in my opinion.

Is there a trick on installing the tephra mod on vista ?

I really wish I had XP on here, when I save the file it tells me that it cant create the file and that I need to check the path and file name. I've located the file and it still wont allow it. Can I just save as something else? Or just burn vista?

Im actually having problems trying to get the nlts mod working. I have the 88590015 with the 1.41 ecuflash, I had issues with the ecuflash too, I had to delete a few things in there to see my fuel maps. I tested it the way tephra said to, but nothing, I enabled it set all the parameters and still nothing. What else do I have to check? any ideas?

you have to save the files to the desktop, then cut and paste them in the proper ECUflash folder, overwriting the original. Its a pain. Vista made everything more complicated than they needed to.

What's weird is this...

Every version of Tephra ROM's has made my car knock at random intervals. My Evo has never like to run any version without getting random phantom knocks. I know its phantom because I could make corrections to compensate for it and it would then pop up in a different area. One exampe, was last night coming home from Denver cruising at 3350rpm in 5th gear and the knock light flashes. There was NO change in acceleration, no change in load, nothing and it popped up twice.

I am going to test this theory with a stock ROM with my tuned maps. I'll report back with results.
