yeah well this is why I prefer the 0xFBA method for disabling it, that way you minimise the risk of people changing BE stuff...

I think there's an issue with the 94170015 Tephra ROM file.

I initially flashed the car with CELFlash on knock > 1. It worked.

I then reflashed with knock > 4. I thought it was working, but my car was knocking like crazy. After reviewing the log, I found that the car is STILL flashing on knock < 4.

I then completely disabled the CELflash (set the tephra mod option to 0).

My CEL still flashes on knock. I originally flashed the car before with a "classic" Tephra ROM, the original with just CELFlash/NTLS/Valet, but flashed it with a stock rom before going with the tephra 5.1.

Anyone else having this issue?

Only thing I can think of is the Tephra "classic" ROM wrote something in the ECU that isn't being overwritten by 5.1 somehow? Anyone??

I have a simular issue. The knock flash happens all the time. It is frustrating since in my logs I am not seeing knock. It seems to happen every time I do a fast transition from cruise to on boost. As soon as the engine RPM starts to increase...CEL flash.

Thats the "prone" knock range that we have all experienced on the 94170015 patch. I think it has something to do with the transistion from the closed loop to open loop state. The knock I get is definitely in my logs though. I'm now noticing I'm getting cruising knock like crazy in the transistion from the 80 loads past 100 load in the 3k-3.5k rpm area. My knock lights load limit is set to 80.

So we all have stupid moments.....I forgot to turn on knock on the log I did.

I think I am going to try and go non tephra and see if the condition persists. The only thing I use in the tephra mod is the knock light any how.

Have you adjusted the load where your car goes into open loop? You might want to have it go into open loop at a bit lower load. That seemed to help on my car.

jba3, did you change ROM numbers when you flashed in 5.1?

Funny you mention the "classic" ...i remember putting in a non patched from in my car for about a month, think it was the 94170004 and out of my surprise one day I the knock light flashed lol ...it wasn't in the rom and it still worked.

I get almost all of my knock in the 80-120 and 2500-3500 rpm range. I may play around with the closed to open loop transition points and see if it does anything.

Slow was 3, and fast was 6. I also tried setting them at 0.

This morning I reflashed the car with the original tephra mod with the CEL flash option turned off (0008 ROM). Then reflashed with the 5.1 (0015 ROM) with slow set to 3, and fast set to 6, and even with the 5.1 0015 with slow and fast set to 0 and same result ... still flashing on 1 count of knock.

Tephra, I can send you logs, my roms, whatever you need.

I haven't tried adjusting the open/closed loop transition point, as I don't quite understand how it works and I don't want to blow anything up. I did change ROM numbers; my original tephra and tune was 94170008; my new one is 94170015.

Interesting! I think I might give that a shot in a few days too, when I have time to copy all my maps over to a stock rom. I don't know why but it seems like once that option is written "on" you can't turn it off.

I already have messed with the open loop load settings in the 3000-3500 rpm area by lowering and raising them but I guess I havent found the 'sweet spot' yet. I've been messing with the timing but so far its not doing much of anything. Its the ONLY thing keeping me from having quick simple tunes and its so frustrating! AFR's are not the issue either, I've had it transistion smoothly from 14.7:1 to 11.5:1, then tried having it quickly jump to 12.0:1...then taper down...then straight to 11.5:1 the very moment I exceed 100 load. Nothings "solving" the issue. I really gotta load a stock 94170015 rom and do serious logging.

Got it, and all maps etc copied over. I think it's ready to go. I can't find JDM MAP instructions, but I saw another thread where they said it works without any XML/value changes. Crossing my fingers. Will report back. Thanks!
