Smoothing your tune with graphing
#166
How exactly does the excel sheet work? I tried it out last night, but just am not too sure I was doing it right. Does it use the smoothing of a stock map, and apply that to the modded map? If not, what is the purpose of the stock map in the xcel sheet?
I just did my fuel last night, and here's what I did. Please let me know if Im doing something wrong. I edited all of the load values to match my maps, and then shifting everything in the stock map in the worksheet to accomidate that. For the load cells that were not defined yet I just pasted the 260? values in the last columns and subtracted .1 or so for each column. Then I pasted my fuel map in the the middle (modifed map). Then copy/pasted the top map (smoothed map) into my tune. Is that the correct process? I just want to make sure I sort of know whats going on behind the scenes, and that I am using it correctly.

the only thing that depends on the stock map is the difference table that shows you the difference between the stock map and your current modded map. The assumption here is that you've already modded your map away from stock and you now have a way to see what was changed in case you forgot. If you're starting this whole thing off with a stock map then it is kind of redundant.
But none of that matters. All you NEED to know to do is to copy whatever map you are currently using (stock modded or otherwise) into the middle table labeled Modded. You also don't HAVE to worry about changing the load values since they are not actually used in the calculations either. But changing them to match your actual load points just helps avoid confusion.
Now .. you said something about "moving the old load columns to the new ones" ... you should not be moving anything. If you move anything in the spread sheet you DO run the risk of breaking the formulas/links.

I gotcha. What I was doing was entering in my custom load values. And was copy/pasting the vaules in the columns from one to the other to accomidate that. I think the values in the stock map are just values, correct?
Thanks for you guys' hard work around here. My buddies are envious that we have so much support going on for our cars, especially all the cool stuff thats been released lately.

I know that the stock map is just used for reference, but I'll note that it's even more useless when you've rescaled the load axis. I added a 250 and 270 column to my maps and I don't think a single cell is the same as stock now.
BTW, i also smoothed my low octane maps just to do it. I've notices some odd timing occurrences with severely different low and high maps, so I've got a custom low map as well. It can't hurt to smooth it too ...

Yeah if you've changed the load points (I hate calling it rescaled but whatever hehe), then a comparison to Stock is useless for sure. I think to help avoid confusion on that matter I just need to rename some things and improve documentation. I did add some to the 21-cell version ... has anyone had a chance to take a look at that? Is it helpful? I need to add it to the 19-cell version too. Then again I need to merge them and get to work on V3 as well as the timing tabs. But timing will have to wait until I finish the design for V3, no point duplicating an old design afterall.

OK I spent a few hours smoothing my maps and WOW what a difference. I am using the JDM 8 map aka euro 360 map and holy crap it is soo smooth now. The car feels like it wants to pull the ground up. I am running the FP Green on 24 lbs with stock head, cams and bottom end. Redline set to 7800 and 2 step set to 5400.
I can't wait to get my revolvers in. This car will be more fun than ever.
Thanks for the info on smoothing the tables. I am certain that everyone who does it will love it.

I read the instructions and they did help. A little confusing in some places, but useful. If I were to make a suggestion, I'd say ditch the stock map comparison and make the smoothed map #2 instead of #1. It's just more logical to paste in to the top map rather than the lower one.

Ok advice taken ... here is the Auto-smoothing thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=364859

I would say that some of the questions that have been asked in the last few posts, have already been addressed, folks. Read up, the thread is only 12 pages long. It doesn't take long to jam through it.
Thanks again to everyone who has contributed!
